AMWH Posted August 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2022 Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but what side is dock-facing on the Joy at Bermuda Navy Yard (NYY to Bermuda cruise)? Want help in selecting a cabin. Thank you!

Want help in selecting a cabin. Thank you! We have now cruised there ten times. Six on starboard side, four on port.Of those ten cruises, we have docked facing the Dockyard nine times. Not that we had any knowledge ahead of time. It's just luck!! It could be anything from required maintenance on one side or the other which requires dock access; could be running and testing the life boats; could be the Captain decides to turn the boat when he/she leaves instead of arrives; or a myriad of other reasons. One things for sure- it's always nice to watch the pier runners from your balcony!! 1025cruise Posted August 13, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2022 No way to predict. I was on the Pearl twice this year. Each time was docked a different way.
njhorseman Posted August 14, 2022 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2022 I've been on two Bermuda cruises where the ship first docked one way and during the stay turned and docked the other way. This was done because lifeboats on one side had to be tested and the original docking orientation did not permit that. Apparently weather/tide conditions at arrival did not permit the ship to be safely turned in the needed direction so it had to be done the next day.
