What is the Britannia Club?

I have sailed once with Saga and have heard of the Britannia Club and seen it mentioned on this forum. Are you invited to join and is it a loyalty scheme? Are there points awarded and special events depending on the level you are? Thanks

Britannia Club is totally free and automatic once you have reached the required  number of nights.

The on-board discount mentioned does NOT apply to excursions, but it is useful as it applies to most items in the shop, photos, any drinks not in the included price, laundry (until you reach Gold when it is included) and probably the hairdresser and spa.

The bottle of Hush Heath is a sparking rose, very nice (many people take it home) and bottled exclusively for Saga - can't be purchased independently.

The general Britannia club cocktail party - they are definitely not precious about it, your status is not checked at the door and one Captain wryly observed that there were more club members at the party then there were on the ship. Nobody is bothered about that one way or another.

Priority embarkation (once Gold is reached) is good, it means you can go aboard as soon as embarkation starts. Priority disembarkation happens to those on the very top tier, but rarely for the rest of us, as there are so many things that Saga have to take into consideration; somebody who has to catch a scheduled flight/train/ferry will naturally get priority regardless of whether they are a club member or not.
