Insurance Question and Confusion

Hi,

 

We had a really bad covid-related run around with denied boarding for a cruise last year.  The cruise line ensured us that they would refund us for the cruise and any lodging/food/travel expenses due to quarantine.

 

The cruise line originally stated that they would not reimburse us and to file with insurance.  Insurance denied all claims and after months of appeals, have reimbursed us for most expenses incurred.

 

We sent the cruise line the original denial letter and they are now willing to reimburse us for costs in the form of a future cruise credit for what the insurance company has since reimbursed us for.

 

Is there any harm in also accepting this cruise credit?  Would this be illegal and do I need to decline and let them know the insurance company has since reimbursed us?  Or is there any way we can get away with a credit for the inconvenience and issues + credit card / check reimbursement from the insurance company?

I personally (am no lawyer) would think that’s illegal and be like double dipping.  If you’re out money still, I could see you maybe getting it from the cruise line.

Well?????  Personally, I might have taken the risk and kept the FCC and used it depending on the value, and then if questioned, played dumb and offer reimbursement if ever questioned.

 

However, since you have now gone public, in writing, on a public internet forum admitting that you know what is happening is a mistake not of your own making,,, it would be wise to not accept the FCC, send it back to the cruise line indicating you have already received reimbursement from the insurance company.
