On Board Activities

Hi all,

I'm taking my first cruise ever on the 9th Oct coming (2022), it's the 7 day Greek Island cruise on the NCL Gem. I'm being brave and going solo and I was wondering what type of day to day on-board activities I can expect? I can't really find anything on line about them.

Much appreciated for any help.

Maurice

In general - there will be various trivia sessions through the day and week, various game shows, theater shows at night, music being performed in various venues around the ship.  There is also, generally, a solo traveler's gathering at one of the bars (since that ship doesn't have a Studio Lounge) before dinner each night.

Look for any of the 'live' threads or posts about the Freestyle Daily from various ships and you can get an idea.  Try to look for the ones for the smaller ships to get the best idea.

A CC tip - at the top of the topic list for the forum is a small drop-down that you can select a ship name from, that's a pre-configured search to find threads mentioning the ship you select.

Every evening a daily newsletter (Freestyle Daily) will be delivered to your cabin given you all the events for the next time.  It will also give you very important port information especially what time you need to be back on board before the scheduled sailing time.

I travel all the time as a solo passenger and love it.

Most importantly, relax and enjoy.

The Gem has shows in the evening, trivia in the atrium every sea day, bingo, it has a casino on board. Depending on how many sea days you have, you will likely find that meeting other passengers is really easy. We always enjoy meeting folks and getting to know them. My best advice is to just relax and enjoy your cruise.

I just wrote a live review from the Encore as a solo traveler.  I’ll tag you in that thread.

Activities I have done as a solo on different ships include:

paint class

trivia

all game shows

all evening shows in the theatre

smaller venues for music at night

port talk presentations

food demonstrations

towel animal folding demonstrations

ice cream sundae socials

poolside games

finding “my bar” for the evenings

Sail and Sustain cocktail class

latitudes parties

captain’s parties

origami class

going to the comedy shows

There is also a solo travellers board which gives pointers on how to participate in activities which other solo travellers are ding.
