Hotel close to Fort Lauderdale cruise port

It would be easier just to get two rooms adjoining each other. Yes, a little checking will probably find the double room, but more likely it will be a suite, and expensive. The adjoining rooms will likely be cheaper, and achieve the same goal.

As to your luggage, see if your cruise line has Luggage Direct. Your bags will be picked up the night before you get off, and you won't see them until your home airport.

Check out Hyatt House in Dania. We reserved a two king bed, two full bath, living room with fully equipped kitchen for two night in mid November. Total cost with all fees and taxes, a bit over $600. Splitting the cost, so it works out less than two adjoining rooms and Hyatt Place. This was military/veterans rate, also included breakfast.

Some Residence Inns have them.  I've stayed in one before but not in Fort Lauderdale.  There is a Residence Inn (The Lugano) near the beach and another just south of the airport in Dania Beach.
