drsmith Posted December 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2022 What type of homemade solutions have you used successfully to minimize fogging in your snorkel mask?
mac66 Posted December 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2022 Most dive boats use a drop of liquid dishwashing soap diluted in a spray bottle full of water. I carry an eye drops bottle with dish soap. Teenie-tiny drop on the lens, smear around then rinse with sea water. Thats what I use for diving and snorkeling if not available otherwise. destinsharks Posted December 7, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2022 Diluted baby shampoo is the industry go to on scuba boats. That said, if you regularly use a dive mask with commercial defog, it can very much get to a point where it's 'seasoned' and will rarely fog even without coating it before each dive. bucky0926 Posted April 12, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) 25% no tear baby shampoo and water. Spray and rub around. Do NOT rinse with anything. Once you put it on do not let the air get to it. If you take it off, for any reason, be prepared to spray and rub again. I learned this on a snorkel trip swimming with manatees. We were in the water for 2 hours straight and my mask didn't fog once. Have since snorkeled numerous times and don't fog any longer.
