When to do group specialty dinner?

We have a group of 16 sailing HAL NA northbound from Vancouver to Whittier.  Three port days - the rest glacier viewing.

I'm sure we can't get a table for 16 - so maybe two tables of 8.  Should we book on an early departure from one of our three ports or book on one of the evenings that we are sailing past glaciers?  Afraid we might miss something on one of the glacier sailings?

Opinions welcome - thanks.

I find large tables difficult to speak to anyone other than those in front of me (long tables). I agree with tables for 8 that are circular.

I personally am outside for most of the glacier days and I see so much more than others do (wildlife, etc...). There are times when the peak of glaciers is at dinner time on some routes I have gone on.

I would book a dinner when you have arrived back from port. Or a very late dinner on a glacier day. If you could find daily sheets from last year on a similar itinerary, this may help.
