Canadians buying OBC

Please refresh my memory on this topic. I remember a couple of years ago I had bought before our cruise OBC (USD) but paid in canadian currency at an advantageous exchange rate. Is it still doable now? If yes, do I have to call or buy online? Thank you.

I'm going to follow this thread.

This was a big discussion a few years back. significant advantage to buying OBC in $CAD.  Anyone done it recently? I bought some small amounts, but I paid in $USD, so it didn't occur to me to ask about the $CAD rate for comparison. I wonder what it is right now?

RCI Exchange rate is 1.300 (2 data points in the above posts).  I just checked my Canadian credit card  for exchange rate on a $200 deposit for a cruise I booked yesterday, and the exchange rate by Visa is calculating is 1.378

Buying OBC through Royal will save me $7.80 per $100. It's not nothing.
