Post Cruise Seattle Excursion

After we disembark in Seattle from our RCI Cruise, we are thinking of doing the Grand Seattle City Tour Excursion ending with airport drop-off.  We have a few questions for anyone that has done this post cruise excursion.  How was the tour, would it be hard to make the 8:00 am excursion with a ship arrival time of 6:00 am, and how is luggage handled?  We don't think it is wise to have RCI take our luggage to the port, as it will sit there for hours since our 2:58 flight unfortunately was just bumped out to 4:58 p.m.

We know about the Seatle Port Valet service, but I have read on the boards that they charge the airline baggage fee even when your airline has waived the fee.  And also that it is a hassle to get the airline baggage fee refunded.  So, we are planning on doing self disembarkation taking our luggage with us.

The ship arrives at 6:00 am. You will not be off the ship until at least 7:00 am. Even carrying your own luggage.

Depending on the day you arrive back in Seattle and where your pick up tour, it would be way too tight.

I grew up in Seattle I would never take the chance.

If  you are on a RCCL shore excursion, your bags will be in the baggage hall in time for the tour (you will get a special luggage tag for tour groups). You still need to clear customs and immigration. You take the bags to the bus, they will travel with you all day, and you take them from the bus into the terminal and check-in. There is no need to hand self-carry your bags off the ship. ShoreEx coordinators will be herding the tour group through the terminal, baggage hall and through customs.

wrt Port Valet, if you have bag fees waived by your airline (First Class, Tier Status, Credit Card), you note that on your application. You will not be charged for bag fees. You will not be charged for overweight bags (load up on all of those Alaskan souvenirs). We cruise Alaska every year and were on the Quantum last season. We use Port Valet for [some of] our bags every year without issue.

Thanks Bird Travels, this is great information.  Since we can let Port Valet know that we have prepaid for our luggage, we will likely use Port Valet and not have to worry about the handling of our luggage.
