Land cruise to Atlantic City, where to stay?

It's been a few years since we've been to AC. Last time we were there we stayed at the Showboat.

Any of you Jerseyites have any recommendations for casino hotels on the boardwalk? Borgata is too expensive (although I'm looking forward to seeing it).

I'm a former Jersey girl, living in Florida, visiting family in June/July. However, we'll probably tell them we're leaving early and head to AC for a few days.:p ;)

We live around 45 mins to an hour away from AC. The Borgata-all the way. We have stayed in many of the other hotels in the past. We will never stay anywhere else. They have fabulous rooms. The most comfortable beds....in AC. The best breakfast buffet. Really great steakhouse...we go several times a year...the best--just as good as Chops Grill on the Navigator! It reminds me of the Bellaggio in Vegas. It has a rich feel. Hands down my favorite place. We stay nowhere else. If you want more great food, the Quarter in Tropicana. Go to Carmine's, it's family style, I promise you will not leave hungry. any Q's please ask.

I would highly recommend Tropicana. They have remodeled and they have an area called The Walk. There are some great stores and restaurants in there (Carmine's Italian restaurant, P.F. Changs, Cuba Libre, The Palm, etc.). Ask for a room in the new Havana Tower.

I would also suggest Tropicana and we've stayed in both the old and new towers.....actually both have really uncomfortable mattresses though. Lots to do and great restaurants at the Trop so it's worth it to us. We're going down at the end of this month for $65 per night and that includes a show (The Rat Pack)!!

Any Atlantic City message boards? I found Atlanticcityone. Anything else?

Borgata rates are very expensive in June/July.

What's the difference between the new and old tower at Trop? Some of my research says it's not worth the difference if price is more than $50 (which it is in July -- $150 old tower, $199 Havana Tower). Opinions???

Beach, you are right. We just spent two nights in a suite at the Havana Tower in Trop and the bed was not comfortable. That was surprising since they are brand new. Borgata has the most comfortable beds, but the Trop has so much to offer.

My guess is that the beds at the Trop are so uncomfortable so that you will spend more time in the casino gambling rather than in the room. lol

There is so much to do at the Trop......the "Quarter" is great! Lots of shops, restaurants, bars. It's like a street in Havana and there's always street entertainers.....musicians, etc.

The Havana tower is just two years old so the rooms have nicer furniture, linens, plus we've always had nice oceanviews from those rooms.

Hi, all.

Getting ready to book. The Borgata is running a special of $149/night which includes a breakfast buffet. So that seems like a deal.

However, I have some questions. Aside from the buffet, are there any reasonable restaurants in Borgata (not fast food, but more like upscale coffee shop type, i.e., Cheesecake Factory, etc.). ALSO, I want to see what's new on the boardwalk, is there a shuttle to the casinos there?

I do have a $79 coupon for the Taj. How is that?

$149 for Borgata......go for it !! That's a great price and rooms there are very nice, especially the beds! Plenty of restaurants (I believe there are at least 10), even a italian sidewalk bistro with pizza, sandwiches, salads, etc.

I'd pass on the Taj......really needs a redo. We haven't stayed there in a while but we were in the casino not too long ago and it was empty. I believe Trump is planning to refurbish.....it really needs it !!
