Connecting Balcony Stateroom

Hello! Can anyone tell me if the balcony partitions open when you have a connecting stateroom on The Joy? TIA! 😃

No. Balcony dividers will not be opened since it would pose a fire safety hazard for the ship. 

 

Note: You will see maintenance workers opening/closing dividers while in port to wash down the balconies.

The official answer is that they are not to be opened. There are some guests who ask and the steward opens them but opening them is a safety violation.

If you ask a Room Steward to open the balcony divider for you and he does, he does so at the risk of losing his job--not allowed.

You can open them on your own. Of course you may get preached at for doing this as it's a supposed "safety hazard." One sailing out of how many had a fire due to this? Blah, blah....anyway, we have opened them to check out a vacant balcony. We then closed it back. I know, I know, we're terribly inconsiderate people.
