Amsterdam canal cruises - day or night?

Recommended Posts

We preferred the smaller boats (10-12 passengers) - which are open air with live narration and perhaps bar service..... as opposed to the larger glass covered boats (50 people) with recorded narration which you can catch near the train station.  You may need to walk a bit further to find a smaller boat tour.  We went with "floating Amsterdam" and I would recommend it.   I would think daylight would be better than nighttime (or one of each !)

Will be in Amsterdam at the end of July 2023 and definitely want to do this. Any suggestions for time of day, name of good operator, etc.? Thank you!

Agree with CC Jack, smaller boat and during day so you can see everything.  Beyond that, the tours are pretty standard.  I personally enjoyed having a bar on the boat.
