Anyone have any good places to park the rental car by the pride of America in Maui

Your best bet is at the airport (OGG).

Found a place to Park overnight near the port. Has security and a short walk to ship. $26.00per night

We believe it is safer at night to put your car in the parking lot at Kahului Airport and take a taxi from the Airport right to the pedestrian entranceway at the harbor.  Walking the area between the Maui Seaside Hotel and the harbor pedestrian entry isn't the safest thing to do after dark there.

Has anyone had success returning the rental the first day, and getting a new rental the next day? Is this even practical?

You could probably do that, of course, but it will eat up a lot of your free time renting and returning the car twice.

It’s also not practical in that you’ll pay the hefty airport rental car taxes twice (that are usually not shown in your initial rental cost when booking). Not as much of an issue at a non airport rental location but in all likelihood the overall cost would be more expensive than 2 days on the same reservation,

Had no problem, in fact walked with other people from ship that did the same thing

We parked our rental car in the parking lot in front of Long's Drug store. The store is  24 hrs and it seemed like alot of other people did the same. Just a short walk past the terminal exit.
