Flights to Europe

I just had my flights and seats to Europe assigned.  It is 90 days out.  I was able to upgrade to exit row seating and the plane was rather empty.

I have always booked 330 days out or better to get the best seating.  But this time I was able to upgrade to exit row seating and first class with a minimal number of points.

Is European travel slow?

No, I wouldn't say Europe is slow. We need more details (where are you flying to and from, airline, for example) to give a fully detailed answer.

90 days out is a good distance out, so hard to get a good read. I am 45 days out from flying SFO-AMS on UA, and from what you can see on the seat map (which is FAR from the most accurate source), our flights are 85-90% full.

So are you upgrading to first class, or just buying an exit row seat?

Not sure when I can remember an exit row in first.  If at all.

Both

For the flight out I was able to get exit row seats.

Coming back I was able to upgrade to first class for a minimal amount of points for 3 of us Delta One..

I just have been surprised at the upgrade possibilities lately with short leads.  Mostly on Delta...
