neyrey Posted May 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2023 Where is a good place to stay the night before leaving in New York? Also anything that would be helpful about this itinerary and ship would be appreciated. This is our first time on this ship and itinerary. Actually first time on NCL. Rare cruiseny4life Posted May 30, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2023 Check out the Ports of Call section for NYC. You'll see a few suggestions there. I'll add some here: Ink48 - close to the port, like very close. Comfortable rooms. Fifty Sonesta - not as close, but a nice walk down 50th St. (about ten blocks) to the piers. The nice wander takes you right by St. Patrick's and Rockefeller Center. Or, do something totally different. Stay at the Hampton Inn Ridgefield Park. They have a park, stay, shuttle, free breakfast rate. It's in Jersey, about twenty - thirty minutes from the pier. We've done all three and would do each of them again. Rare www3traveler Posted May 30, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2023 According to Norwegian's website (Explore--Land and Sea Package), the partnership for NYC is the New York Marriot Marquis located at 1535 Broadway.

Rare laudergayle Posted May 30, 2023 #10 Share Posted May 30, 2023 We did this itinerary last October. We did 4 NCL excursions. Newport: Cliff Walk & Breakers. Informative and interesting. Short bus ride to the Breakers. Clam Chowder at The Black Pearl was very good and recommended by the guide—nice ambiance and walkable to ship. Portland: No NCL excursion. We walked to Holy Donut for their potato donuts…yummy! We also rode the narrow gauge train by the port…which was very unimpressive and hokey…lol. Also, at the visitor center you can get a map for a brew pub self tour. Bar Harbor: Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mtn. Small Group. Beautiful and breathtaking. We had a very clear day. This is a tender port so be sure to get a tender snd get off the ship well before your tour departure time. We almost missed our bus. Also if the tide is down it’s cool to walk out on the sandbar. Saint John Bay of Fundy: DO NOT do the Maple Sugar Shack & Tasting. Long bus ride to a couple’s home where they showed us one scraggly tree where they put in the plug and explained how it would work. Then we walked to a shack…no action just a shack were they told you how it would work…kinda. You do get a pancake breakfast and can buy the maple syrup that they say is from their farm? Halifax: I don’t recommend doing the Titanic Cemetery & Peggy’s Cove. Very long bus ride. Titanic Cemetery is more like a memorial with very little info about the Titanic itself. The Titanic Museum near the port is much more interesting and informative. The drive to Peggy’s Cove is long…and while it was very beautiful…there wasn’t much to do there since we had a short amount of time. This may be more info than east you wanted…lol. Enjoy your cruise…it’s beautiful this time of year.
schmoopie17 Posted May 30, 2023 #11 Share Posted May 30, 2023 If you're staying in cabin 10858, try not to make a mess. We hate cleaning up after people we don't know.

Stayed there on our New England cruise last September. Incredible hotel and location in Times Square. Incredible price! 😄 We got a free night with our Marriott points. This November we're staying at the Four Points Sheraton in Flushing. They have a shuttle from La Guardia, and we'll taxi or Uber to the port. For us it was zero, so we just stayed in a Hyatt by the airport and took an Uber to the terminal the next morning.
