Appreciate opinions on switching from TA to direct booking with cruise line.

When you work through a TA on a booking, you release all control of managing the booking by adding that middle person into the process.

As one example, when a TA is managing the booking, you cannot deal directly with the cruise line on anything. Everything must go through the TA.

You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night if you believe booking your own travel makes you a TA.

The only thing I can think of that I have relinquished is the claim for a price drop. Booking group rates with a TA, there are almost never any price drops because your initial fare is so much lower. 
I email my TA, tell him exactly what I want done, and within a couple hours it’s done, I am

fully in control. I have no desire to sit on the phone with customer service, I have far more important things to do. 
Most anything I need to do, I can do online by myself.
