Antarctica cruises starting in Puerto Williams

This is a question for all users, who have done  a Silversea Antartica cruise starting from Puerto Williams after Covid.

Independant of how the cruise is booked, all cruises include a charter flight from Santiago to Puerto Williams. The Silversea website clearly states that this charter flight only allows one piece of lugage with 23 kg.

The question is, it is possible to pay for additional luggage (weight or piece) for this flight? Or is it impossible, due to weight restrictions of the small charter aircrafts?

Has anybody tried or done this and can answer this question?

The weight limit is the weight limit, a little over will likely not be checked but the aircraft is comparatively small so lots of extra or overweight bags would be unwelcome.   You can take a moderate sized piece of handbaggage as well.  The limit is fine for what you will need.

I went in January this year, and there was no way to add extra luggage beside the one checked and one carryon, and personal item.  While I did not see them weight them, did hear if recent stories where overweight luggage was left behind in Santiago.

the issue is taking off from Peurto Williams, as they have a minimum load of fuel to be able to take off from the short run way, and they stop for fuel Punta Arenas.  When the plane pulls onto the run way, it even backs up to the end, to take advantage of ever foot of length.   We also needed to stop for fuel on the way down.

Keep in mind, the runway at Puerto Williams is on 4735 ft long.  Contrast that with Chicago Midway (relatively short runways) where the longest runway is 6522 ft and Key West at 5076.  And note that Key West is another weight limited airport.
