Maryintwin Posted March 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2006 There are 8 of us which includes 3 teenage girls. Embassy suites obvious pluses--- the larger rooms, happy hour, breakfast, and location. Hard Rock - "cool" factor, casino ( sort of), pool, and Seminole Paradise. I have reservations at both just need to know which one I should cancel.

signman Posted March 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2006 My vote is for Hard Rock. More of a unique experience. It's quite a ways from the Port so I assume you have a car.
Bequia Posted March 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2006 Actually the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is under 15 minutes from the port. Once your on the hotel property there is no need to leave. Restaurants, shopping, entertainment, pools, lounges etc all under one roof. It's a huge complex, a ton of fun, the girls will absolutely love it. It is probably one of the best ways to start your cruise vacation. I would choose it over any hotel on 17th Street in a heartbeat. ;)
Missybud Posted March 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Good Morning Bequia! Thanks for another great endorsement of the Hard Rock. Bequia Posted March 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Missy, There's a number of ways to get to the Hard Rock from the Port. Either traveling westbound on I-595 or west on Griffin Road will get you there in 15 minutes or less. If your taking a cab though there's less lights with I-595. The cab fare should be less then $20. ;) Hotel website directions: http://www.seminolehardrockhollywood.com/location/

emdia43 Posted March 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 18, 2006 Bequia- I am also looking at Fort Lauderdale Hotels- this SE17th st- is this a downtown street that we can stroll around to various restaurants etc or a busy 4 lane shopping mall type of road? Thanks for all the great free advice you give on this board.:)
Bequia Posted March 18, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 18, 2006 Bequia- I am also looking at Fort Lauderdale Hotels- this SE17th st- is this a downtown street that we can stroll around to various restaurants etc or a busy 4 lane shopping mall type of road? Well....it's actually a 6 lane road with plenty of traffic signals and crosswalks to allow you to cross from one side to the other. It's a main thoroughfare to the A1A ocean highway. Yes you can stroll it and hit individual shopping centers as well as businesses that abut the street. Los Olas Boulevard would be more of a "downtown street" that I belief your referring to. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=se+17th+street,+ft+lauderdale,+fl&t=k&ll=26.101438,-80.120759&spn=0.009288,0.021458&t=k
