Enchantment of the Seas

Hi All,

My niece is heading out on an Enchantment of the Seas sailing at the end of the month. I have searched the boards for tips and advise for this ship post-pandemic but have not found any specific to this ship. Therefore, I am soliciting everyone for some. I have never sailed on RCL being a Celebrity, Oceania and Az fan. They are two young amazing "kids" (19/20). They are non-drinkers, preferring moxtails. (Sailing out of the Mediterranean).

Any tips you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone 🙂

On the main page of the RCI section here at CC, there's a drop-down menu with the various ships. Pick Enchantment and you'll get a list of threads related to her - read those.

This will be a port intensive cruise.  The Enchantment is different in that the buffet is forward and the spa and solarium are aft.  I have sailed and will be sailing her again next month (28days).  If they have booked My Time dining, they can expect lines and waiting.  My personal preference is late dining. Set table waiting for me when I enter the dining room.  The Enchantment has been stretched, 75ft added to the middle.  Great view of the wake from the rear of the walking deck 5.  Ask for a printed copy of the daily from cabin attendant.  Leave passports in safe.  Be sure to check safe before disembarkation.  Be careful with any valuables they bring off ship.

We sailed the Enchantment TA in May. She is a very old ship that was 'extended' in the middle, to make her somewhat longer. She may well be the oldest ship in the fleet right now, but we enjoyed our 15 days on her. NO bells and whistles just basic cruising. We enjoyed the food, the entertainment was OK and the Captain was always around, chatting with the passengers. When we were on here, the captain had his family with him and was always in the buffet for lunch with them.

If you like pizza, this isn't the best ship for that as the only pizza is in the Solarium cafe. Tip, do NOT accept the pizza that is sitting out. Ask them to get you a fresh pie. It is still basically frozen pizza, but, at least it is hot.

The cruise director (I forgot his name) but he was very good and also, always around.

Ourselves, we like the peace and quiet of the sea days, so we spent most of that time on the lower deck where you can sit out and just relax and there are plenty of chairs and lounges to do just that.

Cheers

Len

I sailed on the Enchantment with my wife in April, 2023.

We loved the views from the front in in the Windjammer on all of our mornings. Absolutely spectacular, similar to any Viking Lounge view from ships in the past. Lots of warm woods and varnished tables are everywhere on the ship.

Please go to the Viking lounge and watch the sunsets. They are a dying breed like the dinosaurs in the tar pits. Most cruise lines are only reserving this view for elite suite guests. Enjoy them before they become extinct for the standard passenger.

It was a very good cruise, especially for what we paid. Our days are numbered as the prices increase.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but if you have any specific questions I can try to answer.  We did Barcelona to Rome in July on her this year, having also sailed on her in 1999 in the caribbean.  Like others said, she's a simple ship.  Go see Nester in the Schooner bar and Theresa in Chops.  Both were fabulous.  I'm not a buffet person to begin with and felt like I was in the Hunger Games in the Windjammer.  Couldn't get out of there fast enough.  They will be very tired after port days, thankfully it's a relaxing boat.  The Viking lounge was almost always empty, great place to unwind.  Even the pool wasn't crowded because of all of the excursions.  Late night, the casino was pretty much the only activity that we found.  My one recommendation is for ports where you have to tender in, they're probably better off booking an excursion through RCI if they plan on doing one.  In Portofino they used the lifeboats as tenders.  Due to rough water and tie ups, the process was very slow.  We met a few people who had tried to book an excursion through a private company and missed it because it took them hours to get off the boat.  We booked through RCI and while the 7:30 meeting time was rough, we got off and had a wonderful trip.  We were back on by 2pm and relaxing.  For our stop in Florence we also went through RCI since it's a long drive from the port to the city and we didn't want to chance missing the boat - literally.   The guide was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you everyone who has responded. I have taken your tips and put them onto a word doc that I will print for them. Any not to miss foods, places or activities? Any other good tips. Embarkation, or such. I have tons for other lines, such the yummy cookies on Celebrity, or their waffles. As well as other ship specific tips. But I know almost nothing about RCL.

Thanks everyone. You are all amazing 🙂

Love the coconut cookies, oatmeal cookies and the white chocolate chip/ macadamia cookies.  They make a great late night snack.  They should grab them when they see them.  Take back to cabin. Can be found in Windjammer, Solarium cafe and the coffee cafe(not sure of deck).
