Venezia Halloween '23 Cruise

We are revving up for this 12 nt cruise that sails october 28th, our longest cruise ever and the most nights at sea(7). 

 

Tomorrow is check in date for Platinum (the Mrs) level guests.  This "officially" marks the start of our cruise as ill begin packing a liltle.  

 

Is there a benefit to checking in 16 days out vs 14? 

 

 

THE ITINERARY 

 

Nyc sailaway

3 days at sea

St thomas-Barbados-Dominica-St Lucia-St Maarten

3 days at sea 

 

We have oceanview cabin. Drinks on us in the casino.  Anytime dining. No halloween costumes, yet.  

 

 

PRECRUISE PURCHASES

 

Two 12 pack bottled water ($9.95 ea)

Two 4 pack bottled Corona ($21 ea)

Teppanyaki dinner ($35 ea)

Catamaran to the Pitons ($69 ea) 

 

Direct flight from CVG to EWR 

Night before regular king room Margaritaville Resort Times Square

 

I am very heavily leaning towards getting the basic internet package since there will be 7 nt at sea. 2 nfl sundays. 2 nfl MNF.  

 

 

 

 

Sailing italian style will be new to us as will the Journeys voyage. 

 

Wonder if Beetlejuice will be shown on the dive in screen on halloween? Will there be more films for a 12 nt sailing than our typical 7 nighter?  Or just "reruns"?

Quite a few of those (8 I think) are sequels and I never saw the films that came before them lol. I love watching a movie under the stars so I will try to get to one of them.

In the Heights is a solid musical film. 

 

I like Wick and Fast but they are kinda "big dumb fun movies", perfect for the big screen. Same with Transformers which i havent seen. 

 

Ill see Indy poolside.  Gotta be better than pt 4, ha!

The last Indy movie I saw was The Last Crusade and I was probably around super young so I have no memory of it lol. I will try to catch The Flash poolside.

We are currently on the last leg heading back to NY on this 15 day Journey cruise. Seems like Carnival celebrates Halloween all month. Yesterday was our Halloween themed day. I also ordered magnetic hooks. I hope they’re strong enough. There are 3 of us in the room and we usually have quite a few things in the way in the room so hopefully the hooks will help with that.

Looks like newer, bigger TV than im used to in cabin. Might watch a flick in room since we have 6 sea days. And the map channel!!!

slight hiccup for the last excursion of the month, Sonesta Maho isnt accepting Resort for a Day reservations currently.   Odd, I've never seen that.   

 

We reached the resort and they advised us to call them two days before arrival, they couldnt issue a day pass themselves unless within 48 hours of arrival.  interesting. have a handful of plan b's already in planning stage.

Do you happen to carry your sign & sail card on a lanyard?  I find hanging mine in a hook right by the light switch is helpful.  Means it won’t get buried in the chaos of the desk and I see it when I’m walking out and I’m far less likely to lock myself out of the room.  😜

Completed check in today.  1130-1200 embark. Used the old carnical cc for onboard expenses.  Its nowhere near my best travel card but i use it for nostalgic reasons.

 

Learned on youtube video lobby bar has coffee machine and is usually not busy on sea days. We are much closer to that than lido coffee shop. Im intrigued! 

 

Halloween costume arrived. Big discount via poshmark. We are, in fact, doing a couples theme.  Fair warning!

 

Created an island music playlist for my cel. And downloaded several greatest hits albums from artists i enjoy.

48 hours to wheels up and just a half day work shift tomorrow. 

 

Gotta drop the dog off tomorrow to a new place, a farm house/barn that will give her lots of time off the leash and not in a crate so much.   its a little more expensive but i have some guilt for taking such a long cruise and boarding her.  

 

i think we will have to reschedule the Teppanyaki from the 2nd night to another.   Formal dinner in MDR day two, i think.  I cant wait to try the Emeril themed entrees.  BAM!

not packed, but most everything is sorted out on our dining room table (that we never use).

 

checked in tomorrow's flight.  luckily we are not flying a discount airline and we have one free checked and carryon bag each.  bonus for this lengthy cruise, for sure.

Packing for 12 nighter was a little more challenging than i anticipated especially from a cooler weather port.  Heres hoping Nov 9 isnt frigid in nyc...or ill be wearing lotsa layers.  

 

Leaving jacket in car at long term parking back home to cut weight.  

 

Heres hoping the Times Sq hotel can squeeze us in before late afternoon check in time...we gonna be mid morning arrival.

Looks like two other couples on our flight are sailing with us. 

 

One we met in the shuttle van, one we sat near at the airport gate.  Plane is tiny, maybe 20 four seat rows.  Cincy is representing Carnival this am!

Landed 30 mins early, only a 88 minute flight this trip. Jersey traffic light. 

 

Manhattan streets are a mess.  But we made it and checked in before noon. 

 

Had some fresh oj and breakfast plate reminiscent of Carnival buffet options we would select. Not bad! 

 

My pal will be here in 2 hours for lunch at something on Bleeker.  Never heard of it. We have $0.99 pizza slices across from resort and imma hit that  around10pm out of pure curiousity.

Woohoo, now you can relax and watch the time fly! That’s cool that there were other people for the cruise on your flight! 

I’m hopeful it won’t be too cold when we come back but I have a hoodie, a scarf, and a really light jacket so I can bundle up while we wait for the Uber/Lift home. That’s usually the rough part since they make you cross the street and you’re not shielded from the elements at all.
