dexddd Posted October 15, 2023 Author #2 Share Posted October 15, 2023 Was worried about rain in NYC. Once we got to ORD via MCO and TPA I was feeling better. Landed on time in EWR. Took longer to get to nearby airport hotel than flight thanks to Marriott being a cluster, 1

Rare mking8288 Posted October 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) What happened, just the usual delays or ??? You didn't get caught in that Brooklyn traffic gridlock & detours on I-278 running both directions. Have a great cruise week ahead 😎 P.S. What's your plan for Monday & Tuesday, staying on the ship to enjoy YC since weather forecast isn't looking pretty. But, if you do go ashore, they sell rain poncho by the piers where the tender drop you off, along with umbrellas. Actually sunny. Today independent trolley. Boston staying on. FDR wanted $5-10 pp per day then became $500 per room per day, not us. Picture to follow. You were third on my call list but being a Sunday figured you had to water the grow operation, watch relatives pooch, and I’m not sure you own a car.
dexddd Posted October 16, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Tendering, just don’t even go to a tender port MSC. People way older than me will be lighting up sm. I’m on vacation so going with flow.
Rare mking8288 Posted October 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Escape got their tender ops down to a science with Fwd & Aft operating, but still a pain to carefully board 300+ to the lifeboat and repeat once ashore, then reverse on the return. SIL made use of Access services so instructions were to meet at one of the lounge (Fwd) and get escorted as a group to board, fine & great - except ... had the next available tender was AFT, a rather long walk for someone that can fly with a rollator-walker sometimes but not so fast with a walking cane. Unintended, we got to take a semi-private walk below deck ... straight down I-95 thru the passages & then out to the tender ramp area, 280 fellow pax already boarded & waiting the remaining 20 to join them at last. Don't ask me how as it wasn't suppose to be permitted, crews carried a motorized power scooter/wheelchair onto the lifeboat ... how's that for NCL and for one's convenience. Hats off to the crews tasked with the tender operations. What they can do to speed things up further, is if they can have a midship tendering platform ... Seas look calm at Newport, that's good for the brave ones to tackle MSC tender ... how many souls onboard this week ?
dexddd Posted October 17, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted October 17, 2023 Norwegians beat the Italians at tendering for sure at Newport. For pax count, have to check. Gut check just under 5,000. Very international mix. 45 countries. Going to Holas soon. DW beyond excited just to not go to work and deal with patients. Me, have free at sea so all good. Wait, we didn’t pay any grats on our packages so maybe really free at sea.

Rare mking8288 Posted October 17, 2023 #10 Share Posted October 17, 2023 Wow, "small" plate with over-sized fruits ... that's a large slice of fresh pineapple 😄 have a knife ready with the other hand to cut it, or just take a bite 😋 Weather actually turning out nicely today, again and no tropical weather system in the near term forecast, seasonal temperature for mid October.
