Why is a ship on a stick a good thing. How tall is it? Isn’t it difficult to pack?

Baffled as ever…

It's the trophy they hand out when you win a contest. It's just a little trinket but fun to collect as they have the name of the ship on it.

Since covid it has been hit or miss if they are available. "Supply issues". Code for we are to hard up for money to give away four cent door prizes.

The sentimental value is priceless though 😀

I'm sure I've got a photo in the archives I can post. A Google photo won't do I'll dig one up I've won along the way.

I shall await with breathless anticipation. Do you have Christmas crackers in Florida? It sounds as if it might belong in one. Unless too long.

We do not, but it would need to be a very large one to hold one of these 😆

This is the old style, worth probably an extra four cents. Post covid the design changed slightly.

That is much more impressive than I was expecting. And a Christmas cracker would be unworthy of it. Do you have a whole row of them on your mantelpiece?

Yep 😀. I ran out of room so they are not all on display but I have a tiered stand with most on it.

St. Thomas today was very nice. It was a little hot for me, but bearable and I stuck close to the water to benefit from the sea breeze. Since I needed to walk anyway, I powered on and got much better views than I would have from the walking track of gym.

Stepping off the ship at 1114.

In port with us today was NCL Pearl. Nice Aft!

Nice...nose.

Some prices if you don't have anything booked yet.

Lots of shopping right by the ship for people with low mobility like my mom.

Christmas tree at the port. Hard to get a good angle without hordes of people in the shot.

Walking past the shops.

Santa does his shopping here.

And we are off. Right outside the port area you can see the trams going up to the top of Paradise point.

Paradise point entrance.

This was a thirteen minute walk from the port, and that includes stopping for pictures and having to walk from the farthest pier. Only 3-4 minutes from the exit of the port.

Walking.

As usual, I had no destination in mind, but I did want to walk to downtown Charlotte Amalie and as luck would have it, I was heading in the correct direction when I looked at my downloaded map so I ventured on even though the heat was more than I had anticipated as I ventured away from the water.

Entering a tsunami zone!

Thankfully I did not encounter any today.

I spotted some reindeer across the highway.

This road is part of the US highway system. I was surprised to see they drive on the left side of the road here being a US territory.

Seems like less sailboats in the harbor than I remember, but still a gorgeous sight against the beautiful backdrop of the landscape.

Getting close to downtown now.

I thought this was interesting, I googled it back on the ship and it's an insurance office. Ooops.

I've reached my ending point. Almost made it through downtown but it was time to turn back around. Frenchtown didn't appear to far away on the map, and after that Crown Bay which is where Royal Caribbean ships dock when visiting the island.

Furthest views of the ships before I turned around.

Walking back I stopped into the legislative office of the Virgin Islands. I was not sure if I was supposed to be hear, but the gates were open I went in.

I was approached and told I was not allowed to be here. I can't remember his exact wording, but he said it was okay to take photos so I am not sure if he was saying being outside the building was ok as long as I did not go inside, or if he meant I had to take the pictures from outside the (open) fence. I apologized and moved on but I would have liked some more photos of the nice Christmas display they had on the lawn.

There was also a peaceful demonstration taking place just outside the gate. They were not blocking traffic or the sidewalk and did not seem to be protesting the same cause as the signs were all over the place.

My favorite sunset pic that I've ever taken was in St. Thomas on my Mom's birthday from this very ship May 29, 2018. I don't know what I did that caused this lighting effect, but I thought it looked amazing. No chance of recreating it, but I am off to see what kind of sunset St. Thomas has to offer me today since sunset is at 4:43 today.
