Great stirrup Cay. Water shoes needed?

So we have not been to GSC in many years and I am pretty sure I remember wearing water shoes there. Can anyone give me an update if water shoes would be helpful getting in and out of the water? Heading there in January.

 Our first trip to GSC was about 30 years ago and yes than we needed water shoes, this past March we did not need water shoes and we had a great time playing in the water!

Flip flops yes as the paths and sand can get pretty hot!

Thanks so much! We are on the escape in 2 weeks, but they have missed GSC the past 3 weeks. Last time I was there I was an assistant cruise director back in 2004 lol
