I use it and can confirm for the Bahamas anyway, if you have international service enabled and are paying for the Unlimited Plus plan which includes international coverage.

 

On the ship it is a hit or miss and really depends how close to land you are and if there is service it can connect to.

 

I have only got service on the higher decks, but lower down not so much. And even then only on port days do I get service, or if we're sailing close enough to the coast.

I've never had it work on any ship when at sea.  It does work pretty well in most parts of the world.  Check with the Fi website to see which countries they support.
