Quantum OTS Alaska Itineraries

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My friend and I just booked a balcony cabin on Quantum OTS in September 2024! The itinerary is 7 nights r/t out of Seattle, with planned stops in Sitka (9:30-5), Skagway (7-5), Juneau (7-5), and Victoria (late afternoon-evening). This is my first time in Alaska, and I'm curious- if there are no "scenic cruising" days listed, does that mean we will not do any of that type of thing, other than what will surely be gorgeous just sailing in and out of the various ports? Or would something like Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier or similar not necessarily be noted at this point? None of it's a deal-breaker, just trying to get a feel for what to expect.

Thanks!

If it's not listed on the official itinerary, then unlikely it will happen.

Typically, it will say Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. We did the same exact cruise last September and it was clearly on the cruise itinerary saying we would be visiting the glacier. If it just says "cruising" like ours did, then it is just a cruising day. Hope this helps! 🙂

That itinerary does not include a stop at a glacier. The scenic cruising will be as you move between ports within Alaska. You have longer port calls in the Alaskan ports. The cruises through August call at the Dawes glacier. Later in the season, the probability of getting to the glacier goes down because of the amount of ice in the water.

Skipping Dawes also allow you to call in Victoria is at 3 pm. That is good if you want to see something in Victoria. Bad from the perspective that the shops and casino will close early (or not open) on the last day as you enter Canadian and Washington state waters (also the drink tax is likely going to kick in).

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense re: extra ice in the water!
