Chogogo Resort Snorkeling Rental

We are hoping to get a day pass at the Chogogo Resort when we arrive in April. Would like to try snorkeling for the first time! I’m assuming their dive shop rents equipment. Any idea on cost? Is a snorkel and mask enough, or do I need fins as well? Thanks!

There is no rental shop there.   There are many dive shops on the island that rent masks, fins and snorkels for about $8 per piece, or $24 per person.   If you have room in your suitcase, better to bring your own, since it is high season and a lot of equipment is rented by the week by divers and snorkelers staying on the island in hotels.  Remember to bring water shoes, our beaches are rocky.   If you have never snorkeled before, you might want to join a snorkel tour that provides the equipment and instruction.

We plan to take a taxi to Chogogo on our cruise stop. In the afternoon, is the return back to the ship walkable?  It appears to be about a 35-45 minute walk along the beach and then along a roadway. Or, would we be better suited to take a taxi back? TIA.
