Just got off Joy March 23rd lots of good some disappointments

Recommended Posts

We did the Joy March 16th to the 23rd.

For the most part all of us had a great time on the cruise this was my sons 21st birthday cruise he brought 5 friends they all did 2 per room some balcony's some insides. My DW and our 2 friends had balcony and club balcony and we did the Vibe passes.

I must say the Vibe on the Joy is my favorite out of all the Vibes I have been on which is most of the Breakaway and plus ships.

It is huge and the top floor is as big as the bottom floor we mostly hung out on the bottom floor.

The service and bar staff were awesome.

Some of the ship area layout were not my favorite we did not like the casino it was chopped up and seemed small.

The observation area was awesome.

The Humidor was in a weird area there is no bar near it like maltings either.

Entertainment I liked the elements show. We did not like the game shows and there was not many bands or singers anywhere.

For smokers this is probably not going to be a good ship for you the casino area is fine and separated from non smokers but the smoke jail looked horrible near the pool it looked like a huge bus stop.

Food on the ship: Ok were all different when it comes to food but I will tell you for my group we did Cagney, LeBistro, Lacucina, Q, Ocean Blue.

The young adults loved the Q there all 21 22 year old boys that tore that place up LOL.

Cagney's was ok probably the least favorite used to be my favorite. The fillets were small not 8 oz French onion soup not good at all and the ribeye was a little chewy and over cooked I asked for medium. The seafood platter our fried who only eats seafood no meat said it was bad.

LeBistro we all loved no complaints except all the desert portions at all the special restaurants were small.

LaCuchina we all loved the food they had the best fillet and it was 8oz easy.

Ocean Blue my DW and I loved the food our friends did not they ordered fish dishes and did not like them.

The local all the food was good.

We went to main dining 1 time I have not been a fan of the main dining room menus for a few years and I normally do not dine there. The food was ok I had the chicken cordon blue it was probably a frozen item I did not like it someone ordered the steak it was pathetic it was tiny and looked like a steak and eggs steak from a cheap diner. Someone on CC said (where is the beef) and I agree. The buffet and main dining had little beef offerings.

Buffett was good for breakfast all the usual items. No hash browns but real country potato's. For lunch it was just ok for burgers dogs and soggy pizza. They had a lot of foods in stews and weird sauces which I do not like looks like 3 day old left overs. They also did a lot of chicken and forms of pork which some were good and some were bad. I do not think we did the buffet for dinner they took away my favorite prime rib night boooo. The theme nights were of no interest to me I liked the old ones.

All of the ports were good we did western Caribbean Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Harvest Cay. We all did different things I did mainly beach breaks shopping and eating.

In Miami Embarkation was great we got there at 10:30 and were on the ship at 11:15

Debarkation was fast too out at 8:30 am.

Any questions let me know.

Thanks for sharing that!

I know you said you had Vibe, but curious if you saw how crowded the main pool was on sea days?

It was not crazy crowded but there were a lot of people. Spice H2O was not too bad in the back of the ship. Probably a much better spot to hang out

We were on the same cruise with you.

I'm curious if you went to see the comedians? We thought they were awful, like embarrassingly terrible. We couldn't believe that people even laughed, although we saw many people sitting like us, obviously wondering where was the comedy.

We really enjoyed the other entertainment, especially Elements and the Flying Fefelovs.

What was it like having your son on board just turning drinking age plus 5 friends? Did you see him atall during the cruise or was he out getting ripped at the nightclub?

If I was a parent, this kind of cruise would be a nightmare for me…my kid just turning drinking age with unlimited drinks plus 5 drinking age friends?

Lawd have moicey, I wouldn’t be able to sleep.

Do you remember who was the performed at The District?  Was it Beau?

Varied across the nights, most of the time it was one of two British female pianist / singers but think they rotated it around.

I messaged Beau Tahana from his facebook page.   He will be on the NCL for 1 month this year, from early May to early June.   So, we will be on a cruise where he is performing.   Excited.  He is amazing.

It was all good my son and his friends are very respectful for the most part. We saw him at dinner and after dinner almost every day. during the day we all did separate things unless we were on the islands together
