Dining Room Attire Changes

Hello,

 

I haven't been on a cruise in 9 years.  I'll be sailing on the Independence of the Sea next month.  The last time we sailed, I believe men were required to wear collared shirts in the dining room.  Has this changed?  Has the dress become more laxed?  Just trying to figure out what to pack.

 

I don't remember - is there a formal night on a 5 night cruise?

Men now show up in whatever they want. I've seen a man at my table show up to dress up night in nice shorts.

 

No bathing suits allowed. Or see thru.

Whether it means a tux/cocktail dress or shorts, dress to your comfort level and have fun.  The only people who care what you wear are the CC dress code police.

Shorts and polos are my dress code for the MDR, except for the formal nights I wear dress pants and shirt. When with my kids/grandkids I bring and ask my male kids to bring a sport jacket for family pictures.

The clothes that I saw at  dinner in the main dining room (recent Odyssey southern Caribbean cruise) was a mixture of smartly dressed, casual, and  extremely casual. The worst dressed individual I saw was a man in gym shorts, a muscle shirt, a cap, and sneakers.
