Carnival Conquest - 1st Trip Report of 2024!

Recommended Posts

BTB july 1 cruise. (4 nt interior, 3 nt OV)

I was looking to kill time this am and read up on the Conquest.  I was surprised to see the most recent thread was from Dec 2023.  Soooo, im starting a thread albeit a tad early.

We have sailed Conquest 1x and i have fond memories.

There will be a bourbon hunt for best pour available onboard ship.

Gonna hit sports trivia once or twice.  I will defer from playing for ship on a stick if i have previously heard the questions.

Will tally the best buffet item of each sailing.  Odds on favorite is a lunch dessert.

Will also tally # of jimmy buffett songs i hear on PA or live that week.

We have a mess of OBC and are strongly considering the steakhouse, which we have never done on CCL.  Loved the one on NCL, disliked the one on MSC.

And What To Do In Nassau 2x in a week.  (We just spent six nights there in March for a work trip)  i love Nassau but i know thats not a widespread opinion.

Best and Worst Slot Machines of the week.

Booked a $15pp van shuttle from FLL to Port Miami.  Looking forward to reporting back how this works out.  Phenomenal bargain if there is no hair on this booking.

Lyft was $100ish.  Carnival was about $40pp and we would have to wait until noon to depart. We land 945am.

3 days til sailaway and it looks like there is a tropical depression in the atlantic ocean that has 80% chance to form into tropical storm/hurricane.

the spaghetti models tend to make it look like storm will dive below Cuba and head to the Mexican Riviera region.

whew.  (we had a tropical storm on our Mexican wedding and a hurricane there on our 10 yr anniversary.  which is in two days.  ha!)

SAS transportation went pretty well.  Driver called 3x before i got luggage. Walked up 1 floor to departures to meet. Very nice extended van. Comfy chairs.

At port in order to use card have to call home office. Pfffft.

Driver suggested Zelle which was super easy.

A bargain at $15pp!!!!

Easy embarkation. Suitcases didnt arrive til after sailaway. (We are platinum, if anyone was curious). No biggie.

PA announcement today asked everyone to check under beds and in closets for someone else's luggage.  Eeeeeeeek. Feel for whomever is missing their stuff!

Princess Cay - didnt do much research.  Food ended 1pm. No free tea/water after that point.  Had 1.5 Guyburgers before tending to land. But i woulda loooooved some ice water. Bought 2 bottles agua for $7.

Went to south beach and it was quite rocky.  Lotsa folks walking gingerly in the surf. Some taking a tumble. Still weather was impeccable.

News and notes from end of day 3.

Havent had a single whiff of reefer in hallways, public areas or on anyones person. We were walked past dog at port about a dozen at a time before scanning carry ons.

I expect anyone bringing mary j to the ship would check it with the porters, no?

Wife ordered chicken parm at MDR was brought fried catfish. She did a double take at first. I dont think i server knew the difference in entrees visually when we brought it to his attention.  No worries, fixed in 3 minutes.

Holy cow my pork spareribs were waaaaaay better than anticipated. Two thumbs up.  I must admit i ordered them out of curiosity. Ive always dislike the buffet ribs at sea.  Ha!

Just watched the theater company sing and dance with lobby band at 915pm set. 4 thumbs up.  Sang 70s hits. Fun for kids of all ages! Buh buh buh bennnn- eee.

Next stop Nassau!

Excellent drink service 3/4 nights. Final night might have been too many drankers.

B2B process was suuuuuuuuper easy.  Took about 60 mins from arrival at MDR to feet back in atrium. Only 8 of us.

Was weird being only ones on ship. First guest i saw was 11:02am.

Buffett was completely full by noon. Every seat.

Both room stewards have been superfantastic.

How was the shop? Food good? Did you eat in the dining room? What about nightlife? I also noticed there’s not much info lately about the conquest and I just booked her for January.

can you tell me more about the van shuttle that you have booked? We are also looking as we sail in September. I have even used the Uber app to input the address of the hotel in Fort Lauderdale to the Port of Miami as if we were there now. The app said it would be anywhere from 39.69 to 119.62 depending on car size.

Look up SAS transportation. It’s a private shuttle company that will shuttle you from the hotels to the ports, airports to terminal and vise versa. I’ve used them a few times in the past and they’ve been wonderful.
