Passport in Ports of Call?

Do you have to carry your passport (or DL & birth certificate) off the ship in the ports of call? We are planning to snorkel in all 3 ports during our upcoming W. Caribbean cruise.... just wondering if we need all this ID to get back on the ship, or if our S&S cards and maybe driver's licenses would suffice.

Thanks!

We have always just used our drivers licenses and the ships ID card. That is what most people use. Most ships require a picture ID of some sort and the ships card. We keep our passports in the safe in our room. We sometimes carry a copy of the main page of the passport with us if we are going on an all day tour just as an extra ID but not our actual passport.

Have a great next cruise.

On our cruise in January we took a photo copy of our passports. (Put them in a pint size zip lock FREEZER bag.) We had six port stops and were ask to show the picture ID at two ports when returning to the ship. No problem using the copies!

Happy Sailing! OCruisers :)
