Just got the new Brochure for the Navigator for 07 on the Med etc.....and just to let folks know....the onboard currency will be DOLLARS....even though the ship is sailing from Southampton :confused: :D

 

Also with regards drinking age......18...no waiver required....can drink any alcoholic beverages.

Hi Liz...thanks for that information. The dollar returns!. As a mixture of American/Brit..I will be Happy paying with either. It will be very interesting to see if there are any differences in prices for drinks and charges onboard. Lets hope it is cheaper....if there is.

 

I was just wondering...does it say anything about the other ships in the med next year...or is it just the Navigator brochure? The reason being...Although Legends summer 2007 itinery...came out 3 weeks ago on the RC website...I still don't see it on any Travel Agents list. We have paid a deposit on a 12 day Italian cruise..for august 11th..sailing out of Rome. When we booked... I had to give all the info to the TA..as she knew nothing about it. Any word on this?? I am just concerned why it is not advertised anywhere? or mentioned by any other posters. Regards, carol

thank you so much for all the trouble you went to.. I did actaully send you an email back. but I see I have received a message that it wasn't able to go through. I don't know why.

 

The situation with legend is strange..it isn't advertised anywhere that I know of. I heard that they had finally decided a schedule for summer 2007...on another CC thread 3 weeks ago. The topic was actually talking about the Med..and if Legend used pounds or dollars..I answered.. but they seemed not to believe me..so they asked a friend of theirs' on board Legend..which happened to be Runi..the c & a ambassador. she is friends with this lady. (We actually made friends with her onboard as well.)... we rebooked thru her and transferred the booking to our TA. She also came to my cabin when I boarded..as a request from another friend of hers..who writes on CC. He has sailed Legend 4x..and many, many, other RC ships...and had chatted many times with me about legend. Un beknown to us..he asked her to look out for us..as it was our first RC cruise. i thought that was really kind. In fact, my first cruise since 1978.

 

Anyway.....she sent an email about the money...and other things onboard Legend...which this lady posted on the thread. she ended by saying she had a scoop...Legend had set its' summer 2007 itinery.and it was Greece and Turkey..sailing out of Rome. so I would think she should know for sure.

 

I looked at the Rc website to see if it showed...and I thought I wish it were Italy..and there was legend..scheduled for..turkey, greece and....." Italy.".. the august 11th cruise sails to Venice and Livorno (Florence & Pisa) both an overnight stop...naples, portofino, sicily, dubrovnik and Split in Croatia.. it is a dream itinery for me. but now it seems..to be just a dream..

 

They had been talking on this thread.. about rumours that legend was being sold...probably with us on it!!..lol I actually had to give our TA all the info off the RC screen when we went to inquire and later book...she knew nothing about it.. Prices were surprisingly reasonable...A Balcony £1479..on the RC website. RC prices.. are normally very, very expensive.I know it is a 12 days..instead of 14 day cruise....But a Balcony is £2000+ on RC site for our August cruise this year.

 

Our TA took all the info...called RC..and she managed to include flights from Birmingham...(We are in Derby)...transfers to the port..and a Balcony cabin..next to the library... for £1585. (limited locations at the lowest price..i chose out of a selection) I just hope it is not all too good to be true.

 

The Cruise last year.. was to be a One Off.. Then we book again for this year... with the Kids...something I still can't believe. A third Cruise next year... and to Venice...Perhaps just a little too Much to Hope For!!

 

Anyway, hubby and I in particuliar..are sick as can be with severe hayfever...my eyes are so painful..I have had wet cloths on them all day. and a severe throat...sneezing my head. We are locked indoors with all the windows closed on a beautiful day. Watched england in the world cup..glad they won in the end. Missed out on a family 21st birthday I was really looking forward to. But that is just how it goes.

 

Liz...Thank You once again for taking the time to answer. btw... when do you sail on Freedom? Has it made its' First cruise? I keep forgetting we are June now..the weeks are flying by.I look forward to hearing all about it. It must be an amazing ship. I cannot imagine anything that big. We are going on the Navigator next year...we have sailed on it before...love the big ships :D but it will be our first balcony...usually we have inside or PR cabin but decided as this cruise will be for 14 nights then we need a balcony.

 

We are going on the Freedom 5th Nov...gawd I am so excited....especially as we are cruising with dear friends (from the US) we made on our last cruise in Oct on the Mariner.

 

I hope you and DH feel better soon...my son suffers badly with hayfever also.

 

I hope everything goes well on your Legend cruise...I am sure it will be great.:D Venice is one place I would love to visit.With so many great ships over this side of the pond...so no expensive flights...maybe in the next couple of years we will actually manage to a cruise that goes to Venice.

I am always up late....I know about the teenager situ only too well..although mine..daughters and boyfriends.. are just up late..not necessarily out and about these days. my son was the party guy...he is settled..has a little daughter..(she is gorgeous of course) and living down the road now. Though he still always manages to need us for something..Has his dad down there at the moment..as his car is broke down yet again.

 

I was really excited about navigator coming to Southampton. I inquired straight away.. looking into the july 28th, I think it was,..Italian cruise. although it had several ports that repeat this years LOTS cruise and last years..... that wasn't important. It would have been a new exciting ship... however.. the price quoted was £1569 for a deck 2 Oceanview cabin. That is really high...and thru our TA..who is normally cheapest. I must admit..we simply gave up t that price...didn't check around. but details were just appearing. Navigator has 15 decks..so deck 2...is a long way down.. we are paying £1289...for a deck 3..midship..Oceanview this year..and paid £1229..last year...on Legend.

 

That is why I was surprised to see RC asking £1479 for a balcony next year. a balcony was an impossibility for us. Our TA has included RT airfare and transfers for £110 more. it is still a fortune to us..we could save £500..by having another Ocean view..but as this could well be our last cruise..and Venice..plus we don't know how crowded or nationalities onboard..we will at least have a space to sit and relax..to watch the sea...have our breakfasrt..It will be amazing.

 

I can imagine how excited you will be getting on Freedom..How fantastic. What ports do you visit...Is it Miami that you sail from?..I come from ft. Lauderdale..31 years I lived there before coming to the Uk in 1981. You will have a fantastic time on both your cruises I know..and be enjoying that balcony..about the same time I am, hopefuly, enjoying mine....Take care...So Long for Now.

 

BTW.. I simply clicked reply off your message...so the Email address came up automatically..I also meant to say we love Scotland. had a motorhome when the kids were young..always toured from one end to the other..as my husband spent many years there in the navy..serving in submarines. Hi Anne.

 

I don't know what is the problem with Emails...some of the connections like AOL..vs..NTL...Yahoo..etc apparently make a difference...when you send across the UK/US...But liz is in the UK as well and came back.. I don't understand anything beyond the basics of Emailing.

 

Regarding legend for next year...I did get an invoice back from the Travel Agent that I booked with...showing my deposit paid..a print out of the itinery..date of sailing etc. Under flight..the Airline was listed as from Birmingham...(not London)...but said not scheduled as yet..and possibly not Direct?? Transfers included.

 

On the RC website...this past week my booking for next year has appeared...along with this years reservation. you can see the summary of where you are going etc. and have a booking number..your cabin no. etc.

It didn't show for nearly 2 weeks..only under saved cruises..or whatever the title is.

 

The trouble with our TA..she is very good in prices and other aspects..but it is very hard to get hold of her...once you are booked. When you leave a message for her to call....you always have to call back again yourself..and she says she never received the message.

 

Same with Emails..I am supposed to have her personal address...but I never get a reply. I Will try ringing tomorrow..as the thought of Legend possibly being sceduled for 2 places next summer is a worry. Although the C & A Ambassador from legend...is where I originally heard of Legend sailing from rome.. she should know for sure. In fact I will ring RC as well. why it is so secretive..is a Mystery?? No one is advertising it..Anyway..I am going to clean up dishes in the kitchen.

 

I have been really sick all weekend with very severe hayfever. My husband has never had it before..and he is desperately ill as well. It has worn us out..all the sneezing and congestion..my eyes are burnt red. Feel reallly sick.I have all the medicine..eyes..nose..and tablets.. but it makes you feel even worse. It has been such a gorgeous weekend as well. The sun was long overdue. Some Good News...

In searching through all sorts of cruise companies...I picked up legend advertised on an unknown company to me. The Cruise Specialists. I can't get the actual Legend page to transfer. when I click on the address I show on my screen....it comes up unavailable. But try www.the-cruise-specialists.co.uk and you should get the general web site..then put in date and ship and it should come up. I wish I hadn't booked yet..so I could check everyones' prices. But I thought there would be a huge interest...and high demand. Unfortunately you have to contact this company in order to see their fares. But they claim they beat everyone else. I am hoping I have done OK..but I must admit I hate the flying bit. Anyway..at least we know someone else is aware of our cruise...lol...so long for now..it's really late here. Carol

Alex will be 18 in May and at first I thought of going in May....but I think Sept will be better...not so many kids and it wont be quite so hot in the Med then.

We thought the same thing about flights..and stuck with the TA booking thru RC. for the same reasons..transfers. I think you have gotten a great price..with £300 off. Sounds good to me.

 

BTW.... check those vouchers..there is a date at the bottom saying cruises booked by ???? date....if you fall within that date....as you should..I would submit it and try. I did have one towards this years cruise.. I Rececived it AFTER..I booked..but the date said bookings before DEC 31...So I sent it in 2x.the first time they put it against my daughter's cabin reservation.. who isn't a C&A member of course...so it got sent back. But Gemma said to resubmit... it was OK...she checked RC..and re sent it towards our cabin. However, thinking about it..I can't remember seeing it taken off. It was for £35. it is well worth giving it a try. On the posts on here from the US... people are always talking about sending them in after they have booked.

 

Taling Prices... All I had to go by on for this 2007 trip....was the same as you..RC website prices..No one to compare with. Using the cabin price they quoted..They wanted £700 additional... when I checked for airfares. I never did speak in person to inquire a price... just what the screen showed. Our TA brought that airfare down considerably...to less than half. However, we don't know what airline..or sort of flights. I assume we paid the full cabin price.

 

Did you see the other website? Cruise specialists?? showing next years cruises? It is nicely displayed..the scheule and itinery...I will get the kids to make a printout. they have a separate.. up to date.. computer. and printer upstairs..i have the antizue. (see it can't even spell..lol) Antique should I say!..a bit like me.

The coupon has not got a use by date,it just says must be used at the time you book.

It is my day off today and I have been looking into flights and Hotels.

First of all there are no direct flights to Rome from anywhere apart from London which is BA. the regional flights change at places like Munich and are very resonably priced.Expedia among others(as far as I am aware we didnt get any discount off the flights)

I also found a good website www.octopustravel.com they show lots of Hotels in Rome and Im sure the hotels from RCI will be more expensive than these.

It also had something about transfers from accomodation to the port but I messed that up so I couldnt get an idea of cost. All in all I am now seriously thinking of cancelling the flights.

Yes I did look up the Legend it does appear to be still there,I havent even had conformation from my TA and I booked it two weeks ago.

I Tried to Email..but it was again returned. I have been looking after my little grandaughter all day. she was not well at all. She stayed in bed and watched tV...wouldn't eat. I am sure she also has hayfever. Same symptoms. Eyes sore..runny nose.. etc.

 

What Can I Say??? ...You ARE A STAR!!!....Thank you so much for that report. I feel totally reassured now..and as excited as I was 3 weeks ago when we first booked. What a relief to see it all in print...and in such a positive light. I am now sure that we have done the right thing. Navigator would have been amazing...but the itinery is basically the same for the 3x..and we would be on deck 2. So it's the ship.. Legend 3x lucky..but with an amazing new itinery..and a balcony!! Alex and I love the bigger ships...so we will stick with the Navigator for next year...and there are many of the ports we havent been to yet.

I chose the one with Villefranche on rather than the Italian one so that we can go into Nice....love it there.

As far as im aware Liz, the £100 discount only applied to the navigator going from Southampton not the Legend from Rome.

Hi Liz.....And ...Anne....I just had an Email to Anne returned as well. It seems all AOL addresses. I don't think I am doing anything wrong. I simply clicked on your address..Liz...at the top of your Email to reply..as I normally do anyone. Annes' I had to type in. the kids are not available to advise at the moment. will have them check the situation tomorrow for me.

 

Liz..I don't blame you one bit for going on Navigator. it is Bigger....much Newer...and lots of Extras. I would if I could. I'd love to try different ships. I think our girls would have gone wild...and really enjoyed all the royal promenade ..ice rink...ice cream parlour..24 hr food court.they are inside people. The sport facilites the lads would love. But I had already booked for this year.

 

The only drawback on this wonderful itinery next year...is...as much as I love legend.... I will be 3x on the same ship. Obviously we wouldn't have gone this year..if we knew we'd be cruising next year. we could have done this years Treasures Itinery..next year on Navigator..Only the Fares were so much higher. According to our TA. A balcony wil be wonderful.

 

Apparently the Ocean view cabins are low down on navigator..and are not so good. The Inside cabins are on higher decks...and very good. As it is so large...the majority are Balcony cabins..we probably would have gotten a better deal on one of them.

 

I seem to remember when we booked... Gemma..saying something about the £100 discount. she had no information on this cruise..so telephoned RC and I gave the prices I had off the screen. she kept double checking with me those prices..and trying to improve them.. at one point she mentioned lets see what else we can do..and something about £100..that would figure some of the difference of the airfares. We are only paying £110..on top of the RC listed cabin price..for flights /transfers to the port etc..

 

I hope Alex feels better soon. Make sure he looks after those ears. Both my son and I have lots of problems with our ears..especially when we get a virus. I have lost my hearing before..and it is awful.This really is a nasty hayfever this year. It is definitely more like a bad Flu.

 

My nephew, Ted, in florida was the same..and is about to undergo major surgery to repair damaged bone in the ear..caused by acute infection and a growth. he has had problems all his life. They have to go in near the brain..so it is very worrying.

I have just been making enquiries about the Legend sailings next year and my TA told me that RCI are now charging £100.00 per person for regional flights. It seems like Heathrow is the only airport where you don't have to pay a supplement.

 

Just checked a Caribbean cruise for Nov 2007 and they are charging £120.00 per person extra.

 

Looks like more of us will be doing our own air.
