I am interested in rent a van for a one way Anchorage Whittier July 27 to Aug 1, 2oo7 as well as for the day in Skagway Aug 5, 2007. I have received info that Harley's in Anchorage will be discontinuing the one way next year and Avis is saying it is seasonal and no reservations are being taken in Anchorage or Skagway for August 2007.

Anyone else finding this info. Any suggestions for another reputable agency in either place?

You are too early for reservations. Wait until after Sept, and try again.

Avis isn't open in the winter in Skagway, but is definitely open in Anchorage.

Thanks to both of you. I will wait and try Avis again in Sept/Oct to see if they are taking Sept 07 reservations then. Just trying to get as much done as early as possible to check off my long list.

I spoke with the gentleman in Anchorage who releases the dates for bookings and he said they don't open up until this cruise season is over. He told me to start check the end of September, early October.

PS - Call the Skagway office directly. They will hold a spot for you for next year - but can't guarantee a rate. They won't give you a confirmation number either.
