Yes that's what it is. There's also a plank to walk out on. We were in Barbados in April. Didn't take that excursion but had friends that did. We passed them a couple of times out on the water. It's a REAL party boat! Lots of people, but it is a really big boat.

We were thinking about the Jolly Roger - we havent done a "booze cruise" in years and it seemed like something, everyone in our group would agree on. I heard they dock and you can swim over to the beach for a while.

Sounds good to me!

I'm sailing on the Carnival Legend this December. Can you book this through the cruise line? Also, could I book online before I board the ship or will I have to wait till I'm onboard? I'm just not sure how fast it will sell out.

I'm 22 years old and have never tried a party boat even though I love to party!!!! :D Can anyone tell me what it's like? Is there a bar onboard? If so, do you have to pay for the drinks or are they included in the cost of the excursion?

This might be interesting...

I just got off the Legend and when we went to the shore excursion talk, I won the Jolly Roger Party Cruise shore excursion!

Not sure if they give one away at each talk, or if it's even the same one, but I definitely recommend going to the talks!

(I had a 4 year old and I'm also pg, so I gave it away, but it was fun to win!)

Did this excursion. It wasn't that great you are in sight of the ship at all times. the only time the crew really starts to make things fun is when you are going passed the ship so everybody THINKS you are having fun. I would skip this and do something else.

I did this booze cruise and had a great time. Had fun the whole time on the boat and so did my group of 14 people. The Rope Swing was a nice touch.

Upon docking by the beach there is an opportunity to rent jet skis bananna boat, and other water toys. They are very agressive in trying to get you to rent.

Boat was a great time...and the endless supply of Rum Punch made it great. We left Barbados at 9pm....after the booze cruise we were provided the option to go to the Boatyard to continue the party. Transportation was provided there, but we were on our own on the way back.

Hi all;

We did the Jolly Roger three years ago. Most drunken people I've seen on a sailboat..ever! Some had to be helped off at the end. The rum punch was really strong.

We had a great time, loved the sail, the beach and the party. Have it booked for our NCL Pearl cruise in Feb.

Cheers!

We went on this cruise 2 years ago, and I would caution you with your 13-year-old son. On OUR cruise, there were a lot of drunk people, naked craziness and just plain PARTYING. We had a blast, but I wouldn't let my teenage daughter or my 12-year-old son anywhere near this trip. I think the amount of partying surely depends on the makeup of the guests, but you should be cautioned that it can and often does (from what I hear) get pretty rowdy.

Having said that, we LOVED the party cruise and are planning on doing it again this Feb.

Can someone tell me how close this ship gets to the beach? My wife can only traverse in water she can stand in so if you have to swim from the ship to the beach this wouldn't be for her; however if it gets close enough to shore where she can get out and walk to the beach then we will consider it.

We are planning on doing this excursion in January and the Cruise website says that it is for people 21 and older only does anyone know if we book it through someplace other than through the cruise line if they have an age requirement?

I think the age requirement is because of the rum punch aboard. Kind of like a floating bar, if I read ite description correctly. We're planning on doing this in July as we are traveling with a bunch of 22-26 year olds. They'll be able to get their money's worth.

Hello

We just got back from the Destiny and did this excursion.

Even though it says you must be 21 they never questioned it. We had a 20, 19, 18 and 17 year old with us.

I am not sure if I could ever drink rum punch again.

It was by far the BEST choice we all had so much fun.

I have done this excursion twice. Once we stopped at a beach where we docked at a pier. The second time we stopped and anchored and you could swim in, but they also had a dinghy for people that did not want to swim in. The second beach was lousy. Nothing to do there but swim and there were rocks. The first beach was great with a lot of things to do.

We had a great time. I highly recommend it.

That rocky-bottomed (reef nearby?) swimming spot

sounds like Holetown Beach to me.

Jolly Roger isn't popular fer nuthin.

Their Saturday cruises tend to be Granny cruises, or at least they were when I used to work on it,

but during the week it is a fun boat,

- NOT for kids,to be honest: it's an adult kinda party boat where people get quite smashed

and verrry happy!

With luck, there may even be a few topless babes for the guys to ogle (although not usually, dang!).

When you guys sail out, everything's very prim and proper,

but when you sail back in, it's usually one big happy(tipsy??) family!

98% of all Jolly Roger cruisers have an absolute BLAST

- which is why you've done it twice and are no doubt considering a third trip.

If you don't like boozy parties don't go

(okay, maybe on Saturdays, honestly, if they still do Sats.)

but otherwise go with certainty, and drink their Rum Punch with care!

You don't HAVE to drink the Rum Punch...there's an open bar inside the cabin,

where you can get Vodka and other assorted poisons..

The website is confusing. It actually says Saturday only for the Jolly Roger. www.tallshipscruises.com another website said Tuesday & Saturday. This seems weird since cruise ships are in and out all week long. We are actually going to be there on a Wednesday.

It also mentions a Harbour Master that looks like a party too.

Any suggestions?

Wednesday? = Carnival Destiny? (-she's a Wed. regular..)

Harbour Master isn't much to look at from the outside in,

but she's got three decks and a verry long bar!

Travelling ON her, and viewing the world from the inside out,

she's spacious, fun, stable, big... and the one trip I took on her (thanks again, Charles J.)

was a Thursday night cruise with dinner and a floor show!

- and we had a great time!!

Harbour Master is pretty much a Jolly Roger-without-the-sails operation...

run by the same people who know what they're doing.

And yes, it's a booze-cruise party boat!

My guess is that the quintessential (red sails) Jolly Rogers,

being they're elderly converted island-schooners,

are maintainence-intensive and so they try to run them less frequently,

but honestly, you'll have as much fun (maybe more) on Harbour Master.

Its entire top deck is one big SUN deck, if you feel the need to fry(SPF 50)

with mid and lower decks under cover, when you start to burn.

I should think, though that most cruiser folks

would find the TIAMI-type catamaran coastal cruises to their liking,

"under sail" an' all..

Point is... whichever one you choose for your day,

you will have a fun day!

Like the website says, these guys(I personally know most of them)

have been doing this for three decades now, and they have it 'wired'.

If you want 'intimacy' with the ocean and the vessel you're on.. TIAMI.

If you want the romance of an old schooner with red sails

with a big white cross on them - JOLLY ROGER.

If you like your deck flat and staying stable... HARBOUR MASTER.

- she's a twin-hull, that's why she stays stable.

You won't be disappointed, any which way you go

I live close to the Harbour, and sometimes go down there early in the morning

to take pix of the cruise liners as they go in(see attached pix)

Haven't got your ship yet, but would like to..

Below you'll see AOS going in, and Destiny, too.
