Past Guest Party

We will be cruising with another couple who has not cruised before. If we attend the past guest party, are we allowed to bring them or not? If yes, how do we go about it??

( I think I saw this posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it!)

Thanks for any help!!

You will have gold cards-- your friends will have blue cards.

You will be givin a invitation to attend the party--your friends will not.

Past guest party is for past guest only-- Sorry.

These parties should be for past guests only; however, sometimes first timers do get in, which makes it not as nice for the real past guests due to overcrowding. This really should be more closely monitored, allowing only passengers who have actually 'earned' the privilege of attending the party.

Look at it this way: The first timers have something to look forward to on their next Carnival cruise!:)

Give them one of your cards -- you use the other. It's ridiculous that some would say not to bring them..... these parties are so over crowded that it hardly matters anymore.... as for our family... we vowed never to go again due to the crowding. A free drink or two is hardly worth it to me.

Last month, they were being very strict, each person needed gold cards to get in.

I am not sure what you are saying??? Are you saying cheat to get in, and at the same time whining about how crowded they are?

That is part of the reason the parties have sucked in the last year, too many non-first time cruisers, not enough staff scheduled to handle the "extras".

To the OP: Like it has been said, it is 45 minutes, if your friends can't find anything else to do while you go, they have bigger problems...

1. Yes for goodness sake cheat--- what an awful thing to do if they really want a few free drinks.

2 No whining from me.... we choose not to go is all I said.

3. Your comment re: everyone needing gold cards was the most helpful of all.

To OP: Skip the party full of strangers and party with your friends !

It is absoultely not "ridiculous" for some to say not to bring them anyway. The past guest party is for past guests only as a welcome back to Carnival. It is a perk for returning cruisers. If you don't qualify then you should not be allowed to go. I hope that they continue to check the S&S card of each person who walks through the door to prevent the party crashers from walking in. That will definately prevent some of the over-crowding.

Well gee, I wonder why they're over crowded? What's so hard to understand? P-a-s-t g-u-e-s-t p-a-r-t-y

If you're not a past guest, the party isn't for you. Our 25 yo son find some other way to occupy the 45 minutes that we were gone, since he wasn't a past guest. He can go next time.

Ya know, unless you have 10 cruises with Carnival, this is the only real perk you get. We are taking my folks on their first cruise in a week, and guess what, we will leave them in the casino for the slot machines to babysit while we enjoy our party! When we were on the Glory, they were checking S&S cards AND taking the invitations as you entered. Invites had to match S&S cards, and you had to surrender the invite before you entered. Not crowded either, maybe that is why.

Any idea when they have this party on a four day? Do they have the captain's party as well?

Let's see what sounds more ridiculous....

Have non past guests take your S&S card, just so they can get a free drink...

or

Wait until you actually ARE a past guest before you go to the PAST GUEST party

This isn't rocket science :p

To the OP... I'm sure they can find something to do on their own for 45 minutes, and then on their next cruise they will be eligible to go!!

The past guest party was WAY over crowded and over-rated! Yes, we got a few free drinks and "horsy-derves", but didn't last long. I agree first timers can go to lido and have a (better) drink or hit the ice cream machine for a few minutes. First cruise we didn't think anything about going with our past guest friends. We weren't together EVERY second anyway. If they want free drinks, have them go to the auction while you are in the party. In January I doubt we will even go to the party. Takes time away from other activities.

JMHO do as you wish ;) ,

Kat

I agree that the first timers can find something to do while you enjoy the past guest party. I enjoy the past guest party because it is a chance to meet people and get their experience from different ships. Also to find out what is coming up with the company. Before my Glory cruise last week there was no name for the new class of ships after the Splendior premiers in 2008 but because of the party I now know it is the Super Liberty and it is going to be a bigger ship that all the others and that Carnival is adding new things on the ships like a putt-putt area. They checked my sign and sail card and took the invitions. With the invitions they had a drawing and the lucky winner got a free night at the Emerald Room supper club and a free picture with Dana the Cruise director. Besides first timers normally turn into past guest so the next cruise they can enjoy the free drinks, appitizers, and the nice music played by the orcherstra. After my europe freedom cruise next October I am hoping to go on the first sailing of the Splendor. Only 7 more cruises then I can be PLATINIUM!!:)

We made the crowd less crowded by about 20 or 30 of us going up on the stage and dancing to the music of BLOOD POWER! at our past guest party a few weeks ago on Conquest!:p

I will say, that was the very BEST past guest party EVER!!!!! If they could all be like that, I'd go to every one of them!! What a freaking blast!!

Past guest parties are held only on cruises of five nights or longer. The Captain's cocktail party is held on all cruises - even the 2 night CTN.

Thanks Cotton - makes sense, DH & I were trying to figure out when they would have the darned thing, no time left after all the other things being crammed into four short days!

Oh well, Mom & Dad can come with us the next time we go to a Past Guest Party I suppose since they will be Past Guests then! :D

Beings I have 3 cruises under my belt. The last two of those cruises were ony 2 days. So I know they had no past guest party. From what I understand there should be an invatation in my cabin on my cruise next month:confused: . Is that right.

I would bring your friends with you to the party...I have always done this on Princess and never have had a problem....Not a big deal!!

That is because you are special  the rest of us aren't...

...I kind of think you missed the, gotta have a pass to get in part, that they are enforcing on Carnival...

I find it amazing that some people on this board pick and choose the rules they want to apply to them.

It's okay to pack your suitcase with booze even tho Carnival says that is not permitted, but let's be rude and sarcastic to a poster for asking a question or bringing non past guest to the past guest party which is not permitted either.

Haven't seen many post on the "can I being my own booze" saying oh no that is against the rules. But then I guess that is one of the rules a lot of posters don't want to apply to them so therefore it doesn't count.

Personally I don't bring my own booze or bring uninvited guests to the past guest party. Rules are rules and I don't pick and choose.
