caviargal Posted January 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Sailing in May 07,,,,need passport, someone help,,,,thanks.....:) I do not understand the question. The instructions for getting a passport can be found on the U.S. Immigration Dept. website, along with a list of requirements and locations. signman Posted January 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2007 NO you will not need a passport for your cruise. As of now you will not need one until 2008 to return to the US via cruise ship. However, you will need one after 1/23/07 to return to the US via air. If you can get one though, just do it. You will need an Original or raised seal certified copy of your Birth Certificate. RLM77 Posted January 9, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Here are some links that may help: http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=1901 http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html http://www.independenttraveler.com/resources/center.cfm?ID=1 If I remember correctly it took quite a few weeks for us to get ours, so don't wait till the last minute!

98Charlie Posted January 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Click Here for a link to RCCL's web page regarding passports. If I read it correctly, they are not required but Royal Caribbean International strongly recommends that all guests travel with a valid passport during their cruise. This greatly assists guests who may need to fly out of the United States to meet their ship at the next available port should they miss their scheduled embarkation in a U.S. port; guests entering the U.S. at the end of their cruise; and guests needing to fly to the U.S. before their cruise ends, because of medical, family, personal or business emergencies, missing a ship's departure from a port of call, involuntary disembarkation from a ship due to misconduct, or other reasons. Guests who cruise just prior to or after January 23, 2007, who need to fly to the United States before their cruise ends will likely experience significant delays and complications related to booking airline tickets and entering the United States if they do not have a valid U.S. passport with them. Melissa at Mohair Meadows Posted January 9, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 9, 2007 While this year you don't need a passport for cruising, you do need one for flying in from out of country. If you had an emergency in Mexico or another country where you had to fly home, you'd have problems. Best to cover your bases. Melissa
bububr Posted January 9, 2007 #10 Share Posted January 9, 2007 I agree with Melissa. Most lines even now require that a passport NOT rexpire with 6 months of your trip in case of extended stay of an emergency. Should something unexpected come up and the situations requires you to fly back to the US, Unfortunately you would not be allowed to return, and may be held up in immigration for who knows how long. Host Walt Posted January 9, 2007 #12 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Good advice. You can acquire a Passport at a Post Office and, by asking for expedited service, you can receive it in plenty of time for your trip.
Nancyquilts Posted January 10, 2007 #13 Share Posted January 10, 2007 She might as well get one now. I thought I had heard that the Post Office charges extra for the passports? And she certainly shouldn't need to pay extra for expedited service if the cruise isn't until May. Nancy
SheilaNC Posted January 10, 2007 #14 Share Posted January 10, 2007 We have had good results when getting passports and when renewing them. Your daughter should have plenty of time. Truthfully, we find that we take our passports with us whenever we travel and they make the best IDs. Easy to do and last a long time. All of our kids and grandkids have them now so we can travel anywhere without having to worry about who does and who doesn't.
Roaddog Posted January 10, 2007 #15 Share Posted January 10, 2007 If you need one quickly, contact your U. S. Representative. They can help you get your pasport in as little as 3 days.
