Cash Advances Charged to Shipboard Account

We haven't traveled on Celebrity for almost 2 years. Are passengers still able to get cash advances from the casino, charged to ship board accounts with no fees? Thanks very much.

Yes, and they go on your credit card as a purchase not a cash advance so if you are inclined to play in the casino you can pile up those miles, etc.

Does Celebrity charge a 3% charge for doing so, as other cruiselines ive been on have. We are off to Hawaii in 4 weeks and i would be good to know that we dont have to carry lots of cash around on our pre cruise in LA.

If you get cash at the Casino, then it's treated as a "regular" purchase onboard. The same as if you purchased an item in the shops...but I'm not sure if obtaining cash at the "Bank" or Pursor's desk is the same. I haven't done that in the past.

Wow, that's pretty cool! Can you get local currency (ie: € in the Med) on the same basis?

You can't get local currencies at the casino...just at the "Bank" onboard. There is a fee charged for the exchange, but I don't remember the rates. I plan on ordering foreign currencies through my own local bank, before my cruise.

Just a word of advice. While it is true that the Casino Bank is a great place for obtaining extra cash on your cruise, it is usually much less eager to dispense cash on the last night or two of the cruise (depending on length) because they don't want you to use them as a bank for cash for tips. On my 11 night cruise, I had no problem on nights 3 and 7 but when I tried to take out $300 on the last night, they tried to make me use my "room card" to gamble at the tables, until I insisted. I am pretty sure it is always US dollars, ie, the currency used in the gaming casino.
