Now in regards to this "Beer & Bathrobe Party" do tell a lil more.... :)

...

Last year on the Miracle is was "Coconuts & Bathrobe party" ... we drank out of coconuts, danced while wearing our bathrobes ... what was under the bathroom was up to the person wearing it! ;)

Costa Maya, we went to the ruins of Chacchoben. We chose that one because the ride there was only an hour and whole tour was 4 hours. The other trip to the other ruins was a two hour bus ride each way. It was something that you all have to do.

----------

to the OP -- was this a very strenuous jaunt @ the site?

Are you refering to another "ruin" excursion from Costa Maya or the Tulum one from Cozumel? DH & DSs eyes rolling back in their head @ the thought of actually learning something:rolleyes: ; trying to make it as painless as possible (shorter is better in their eyes lol).

great trip report!

I was on the same cruise.

Grand Cayman was closed due to rough seas. Ships were instructed to go to the other side of the island where waters were calmer. Only glitch was that the bay could only hold 3 ships and the Legend was #4.

Bathrobe deck party was highlighted by a blond who stuffed her bathrobe with pillows - front & rear. She was a hoot.

Food, except for the chateaubriand, was the best we've experienced on Carnival. The supper club was awesome!

Now the bad - "The Bubbas"

"The bubbas" was my name for the group of 15 or so couples in the late seating upper dining room. Look up bubba in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of these rednecks. The bubbas took great pride in their level of intoxication and their loud, vulgar and obnoxious behavior, especially toward their waitress, Anna. She took it in stride, like a trooper, but after the 2nd night of this we complained to the Maitre'd. I must say he handled the situation superbly and the group was MUCH more well behaved the following evenings. If some of the guys started to get out of control, they were reigned in by their wives/girlfriends or some of the more sober guys. I don't know what he said but the Maitre'd got a nice tip from me for handling this so promptly and efficiently.

Nice to see people from the roll call responding. It was a pleasure meeting you.

As for the "bubbas", I think they were in the cabins above me. They had 7 cabins and acted pretty much as you described. Glad to see that the situation was handled in a civil way.

Take care, and hope our paths cross again.

Grand Cayman has been SKIPPED on about 1/2 of our trips there. Upon asking some casino staff (where I spend too much time) about Grand Cayman, they report that it is frequently missed.

I wonder HOW OFTEN??

There are ALWAYS a few BUBBAS onboard. Usually amusing to watch, but keep your distance, you definitely don't want to be associated with them!!!

The other trip to the Mayan ruins is the Kohunlich one. We did not take it because of it's length as well as a lot of climbing and walking.

We chose ours and the only real strenuous thing was the climb up about 20 stairs to get to two temples. The rest was pretty flat and easy to walk.

Hope this helps you out.

Scott,

Thanks so much for the review. We are booked on the 5/13/07. This is our first cruise, so the reviews are very helpful. I saw somewhere else that formal nights on the Legend were on Monday and Friday - was this the case? Glad you had a great time, but sorry to hear about missing Grand Cayman. Hoping we don't miss it - our kids are really looking forward to swimming with the stingrays!! Thanks again.

Yes the formal nights are on Monday and Friday. We did the whole nine yards on the first formal night, on the second one no tie just a suit coat, and the wife wore a nice looking pant suit.

You will have a great time on the ship. Did your planned shore tour twice and it was a very good time. Since the weather is now good, you should have no problems in Grand Cayman.

Have a great time and partake in all of the parties on deck.:) Be sure you are on deck when the Legend goes under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on departure.

I spent two years on and off in Greenville for business. Great City, great downtown. Used to go to GNC off Woodruff Road and I-85.:)

Take care,

Scott

Scott-

We lived in FL for 14 years before moving to SC. Lived in Palmetto, which is just south of St. Pete. I worked in St. Pete and drove the Skyway everyday - what an awesome drive I had!! When were you in Greenville last? We have only been here for about 5 years - it is growing fast and furious. Woodruff Road is unbearable!! There are accidents at I-85/385 almost daily.

We'll be driving to FL 5/9. I know you did the VIP check in... but what time would you recommend we get to port? How long did it take for you to disembark? Thanks in advance for all your info!

To answer your questions:

We got to the port about 11:30 and used the valet service. If you plan on parking at the terminal, it is $12.00 a day. The valet service was an extra $16. for a total of $100 for the week, without valet it would be $84. The parking is right across the street. Drop off the luggage before you park.

If you use the regular check in, it should take you less than 30 minutes to board. Just make sure you have all the stuff you need.

Getting off the ship was easy. They call you to leave based on your luggage tag color. If you do not have a lot you can opt for self debarkation where you carry all of stuff off the ship. They start that about 7:30. They then start calling the tag colors. It took us about 30 minutes to get off the ship, grab the luggage and get into the car.

Finally, the last time I was in Greenville was last year. Yes it is growing like crazy. Lots of construction and traffic. But still a nice place.

Take care, have a great time:)

I registered him the begining of this week. So far he is the only one but the lady said more will joing when on the ship. I hope so as he is looking forward to it, yes I ruined the surprise :o I just had to make sure he really would be up for it and that I reall wasn't trying to get rid of him for the day ;) I did get the clubs/shoe combo and he will bring the other items. I am so happy for him and he still was surprised that I even wanted to do this for him ...:D
