What does everyone think of this cruise? I would be tempted to fly from the east coast for this.

Eight-Day Mexican Riviera Cruises From San Diego Offered Aboard

Carnival Pride Beginning In March 2009

MIAMI (June 27, 2007) – Carnival Cruise Lines’ 2,124-passenger

Carnival Pride will operate a series of eight-day cruises from San

Diego, Calif., to the Mexican Riviera beginning in March 2009.

Featured ports on this itinerary include Acapulco, famous for its

sizzling nightlife, excellent beaches, myriad shopping and dining

experiences, and death-defying cliff divers; Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa,

offering a unique combination of a quaint fishing village and

world-class resort renowned for crystal-clear waters and gorgeous

white-sand beaches; and Manzanillo, offering magnificent beaches and a

variety of watersports opportunities.

Carnival Pride will operate the eight-day schedule from San Diego

March 22 – April 30, 2009 (the vessel will also operate a seven-day

Mexican Riviera cruise from San Diego departing April 23, 2009).

“These eight-day Mexican Riviera voyages from San Diego provide a

convenient and affordable option for sailing one of the world’s most

beautiful cruising regions aboard a truly magnificent and innovative

‘Fun Ship,’” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

The 88,500-ton Carnival Pride offers a highly memorable vacation

experience, with amenities that include a reservations-only supper

club located at the top of a soaring nine-deck-high atrium, indoor and

outdoor promenades, and 16 lounges and bars, including an elaborate

multi-level theater showcasing lavish revues.

Also featured is a wedding chapel, 13,300-square-foot health and

fitness center, a full gambling casino, and extensive areas for

children’s and teens, part of the line’s top-rated “Camp Carnival” and

“Club O2” programs, respectively. In addition to an Internet café,

Carnival Pride offers Wi-Fi access and cell phone service.

Carnival Pride also offers a wide range of accommodation categories,

including several levels of private balcony staterooms and suites. All

of the Pride’s 1,062 staterooms feature the Carnival Comfort Bed sleep

system with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality linens

and pillows.

Prior to the start-up of its San Diego-based cruises, Carnival Pride

will continue its current schedule of seven-day Mexican Riviera

cruises from Long Beach, Calif., through the departure of March 15,

2009. The new 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor will assume the

Carnival Pride’s year-round seven-day Mexican Riviera itinerary

beginning March 29, 2009.

Reservations are currently being accepted for the Carnival Pride’s

Mexican Riviera cruises from San Diego. Prices for the eight-day

cruises start at $ 579 per person; the seven-day cruise starts at

$479, based on double occupancy. Special discounts for third and

fourth guests and round-trip air supplements from dozens of North

American gateways are also available.

I'm definately interested! Was already checking DD's spring break schedule for 2009 and looking for something. Her break is 3/23 - 3/27 so this would be perfect.

Haven't read much on the Pride but will do some homework. Isn't it one of the older ships? Does anyone know if it has the outdoor screen (muts equilivent)?

One questioned answered:

When Carnival Splendor arrives, Carnival Pride will do the eight-day out of San Diego.

Which raises a new question?

If Carnival Pride is doing the eight-day out of San Diego, where's Carnival Spirit going to "winter?"

Bill, are you considering getting this set up as a CC Group cruise? If so, I'd book 2 or 3 cabins for 5-6 people.

I did some checking and was disappointed that there is no Teen Club/O2 on this ship. DD really loved Carib.Princess teen hang out and activities this year. Who knows, maybe between now and Carnival will add an O2 Club like they did on some other ships. But she'd be 15 then and probably less likely to use.

No I wasn't considering a group. I would have no idea how to even go about it. I'm more a follower than a leader.;)

I have to work on getting my credit card paid off before I book anymore cruises.

I di like the itinerary is 3 places I have never been and the Caribbean is getting old real fast.

I was on the Pride when she was 6 months old. She is a nice ship.

Someone said Manzanillo was an industrial port but my sons girlfriend goes there every year. Maybe she has some insights that would help.

Anyway just saw this yesterday and thought it was interesting.:)

People are getting info from their PVP etc that the Spirit is heading to Mobile. I rather keep the Spirit here and send the Pride. With all of the Azipod problems the Pride has been having lately, I doubt she can make the Alaska voyage.

Fred,

Is there a big difference in the 2 ships?

Aren't they both the same class of ship?

Bill, there is no difference in the ships, but the Service, Supper Club and Crew is what makes the Spirit stand out against the rest on the West Coast. Thats why I would like to Spirit to stay here.

Phroggie, She is suppose to go to NOLA, not Mobile.
