Just back from Mercury...and loved it!

I heard they added a few new shops to the shopping area. Is this true and what kind of shops are they? What time was the muster drill? We will be sailing in about 10 weeks and I can't wait. Was the party band good and what was their name?

We are on the ship September 21-24. Hope Headliners will still be there in September. We are making final payment this week, and then by doing so, know that the cruise is getting close! Thanks for the information.

You know Celebritymania? Donald, from Vancouver.....he is

sailing her again at the end of this month and I think he has

sailed Mercury 7 times!

We have only sailed on M class ships. Next april will be our first on the Mercury. My question is how wil this ship differ from the M class? Any information would be greatly appreciated. We have second seating dinner table for 4. We have booked a FO cabin soon to classified FV after the end of March 08. We choose this cabin because it is an aft cabin, & was less expensive then the 2A. We are elite members.

Someone posted earlier (CruiseArizona, I think) that they served buffet-style in the formal dining room the evenings while the ship was still in port in Juneau and Ketchikan. Did they do that on this sailing, and was it come and go? We have an excursion planned it will be extremely difficult (if even possible) to make it back for early seating in Juneau for us.

 

Okay, after looking back, she didn't say where it was.

Carmen, they had a buffet for the late stop on my sailing last year as well.

 

And another point~there were folks who went to the dining room for late

seating (normally they ate at the 6:00) and the Maitr'ds were accomodating....in other words, on that particular night there were

enough empty seats at the 8:30 dinner for more people.

It is a bit different when excursions get back late.

Size of the ship for one.....M class are in the 90,000 ton range.

C-Class in the 70-75 ton range.

M class has the Aqua Spa Cafe and Specialty Restaurant.

Neither on Mercury.

You will have use of the T-pool (complimentary for Elite and Suite Pax

on Mercury)...on M class they are complimentary for everyone.

 

I love Mercury:) she is smaller without as many bells as whistles

as the M class but I love her.....food and service (in my opinion of course)

have always been great.

But remember, we all have opinions;) I know there are folks on here

who don't care for her but everytime I sail her, I know I want to go back again:D

Drew, you don't have to miss the Dining room.......both were offered

when I sailed last year. Not one or the other...but both:D

I remember speaking with my Maitr'd and he was really nice. I told him

I love the dining room.....he was telling me if I was too tired to sit through

dinner I could eat upstairs.

Too tired? Me?:D :) ....even after a day in Alaska I ate dinner in

the Dining room!

I'm early seating, though. It'll be hard to make it back for the dining room on the Juneau night and the Ketchikan night. If it were open seating on those nights, I could still do it.

Drew, I was just giving you another option~you could eat late

or try the buffet.....sorry if the suggestions don't work.

As I said, seems on the late nights of excursions the Dining staff

is usually helpful in being flexible.

I have been a way for a while (My 92 year old Grandma, whom I loved very much, died last week, so I was off the boards for a while making arrangements to get to and attending her funeral)

 

 

Sorry I didn't say where the buffets were.....There was normal dining in the formal dining rooms... But because there were so many late excusions that would have caused people to miss their dining time.... They offered a buffet dinner in the Buffet... Palm Spring Cafe....

I too love the Merc.... I had a big discussion with my kids today about which is better... Mercury or Infinity....

 

The kids say that the Infinity is better, Better layout, glass elevators, and its bigger!.

 

I like the Merc better... two evening night clubs (Pavillions and Navigator) all ages indoor pool. and smaller more intimate setting.

 

 

Something tells me that the Itinerary really might be the difference... we took the Infinity 15 days to Hawaii and Back, and we did the Merc with the kids 11 day Mex Riviera and 7 day Alaska.
