"LIVE" from the Grandeur 2007 Bermuda

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. . . The Captain suggested that we should be at the Chesapeake Bay by 10PM, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel by 1030PM.

He said that he doesn't think that this weather will cause us to be late into port. . .

The ship has really been rocking. . . and rolling. . . .It appears that we are in the middle of a big storm. I am way up in the Viking Crown Lounge, so it may feel more extreme up here.

Here are a few pics. . .

Hello everyone. . . I just returned from a bridge tour on Grandeur of the Seas, and I will say that I was very impressed with the tour and the passion that the Captain has for this ship. We could only take photos on the wings...

I will go into more details later, but I wanted to post a few pics of my tour !

Radio, I have truly enjoyed your "Live" reports. I will be on the Grandeur for Canada/New England in September and did the the Caribbean with her last year. My question for you is about your experience on a cruise that stays overnight in port. I have never taken one that did that and wonder if you feel it is much different than one that sails from one port to another every day. I just love the sailing aspect and visiting different ports but have always wondered if I would like this cruise. Would be interested in your opinion as you have done such varied cruises.

Hi Radio, Thank you so much for taking the time out of your vacation to fill us all in. We are on the 8/19 sailing and your "live" reports are getting us even more excited for our trip. Is there any chance that you saved either the menus or dailies?? Thanks.

Radio - Thanks for the "LIVE" reports. We have sailed on the Granduer twice and met some great people. Also, been through Hurricane Gaston on her. She did well in the storm. Seeing your recent pictures reminded me of that cruise. Thanks again. I have looked at your website at some other "LIVES" you have done. Great work. If I ever get the technical know how to produce great reports like you do I think I would just take up cruising as my job!! Nice thought but that doesn't look possible at this time. Thanks again! Ken and Suze.

I used a Sony DSC-W50 for this cruise. . . It is very small and compact.

Thanks for the nice comments. . .

I love the overnight stays in port. I wish we could stay longer. I plan on sailing on a cruise ship that does stay longer like the Empress of the Seas, Azamara Journey, NCL Crown, and NCL Majesty.

My current plans are to sail to Bermuda again(on Grandeur), in September, and also the Explorer of the Seas in November (Both will stay only 1 night)

Radio:

Enjoying your pics on Grandeur. We're sailing on her next year out of Tampa.

How do you get the pictures into your posts?

Hi Jill.:D

OK...This is how I post all pics to Cruise Critic.

1. All photos are first posted to my Photo Page.(pixel size 448X336 or similar)

2. I then begin a CC Post, and click on -POST REPLY-

3. I click on the Icon at the top of the Dialog Box that is titled -INSERT IMAGE-

4. I open a photo from my Photo Page, and click on Properties...

5. I copy the properties from the photo and paste them into the box that appears when you select -Insert Image_

6. I then click on -Submit Reply-

And there you go. . .it only takes a few seconds to post each photo... The first few may take longer due to the process.

Hi,

Great photos, are you a professional (photographer that is)?

Sorry...I am not a professional . . . I am just an amateur who loves cruises !

I can tell you, that for every photo that you see. . . there are 10 pics of the same object, that were deleted.

Thanks for the nice comments. . .

Thanks for all the great information on Bermuda Radio! I can't wait to experience the Dockyard party! I noticed you said the pools were filled for most of the day. What does that mean? Why aren't they filled all of the time?

Ooops...What I meant was they were filled with people most of the time ! !

They were filled with water ALL of the time (except late at night when they were drained, and new ocean water was added daily !)

Thanks so much for bringing us aboard the Grandeur with you! This may be an odd request, but would you please post a picture of the D1 bathroom? We hear horror stories:eek: of how small they are and I, for one, would like to see what they actually look like.

Thanks,

Yes, they are very small. . . but managable. A larger bathroom can be found in the JS/GS/OS/ or RS.

Thanks, Radio. Checking in on your trip has gotten me through a very, very loooong and tough week at work.

We live in NJ and I'm trying to convince DH to go on a 5 day Bermuda trip on Explorer next spring with DS (5). We went to Bermuda on our honeymoon and loved it there. He thinks a 5 day cruise will feel like we don't have enough time. Did you feel rushed in Bermuda, only being there for 30-ish hours?

Again, thanks. Much fun this week.
