Mini suites

Has anyone ever booked a mini suite? We have one booked for a TA in October, but there is no picture on their site and no info on it. The rep. didn't know much either, thought it was just larger. Anyone have info or pics? Thanks!

Are you referring to a category 11 suite?

If so, there are tons of pics available on the Carnival web site. Failing that, you can Google 'carnival cruise lines mini suite'.

There are pics of suites but none specifically of a mini suite nor do they have a description. We've looked. :D

What category? Princess has official mini-suites, Carnival does not, what ship, maybe they mean the Cat 11s on the Fantasy class???

Need more info... look on your paperwork and see what category.

The reason you aren't finding anything under "mini suite" is because there really isn't a category called that. It's either a suite (Cat. 11, 12), Balcony (Cat. 8A-9A), Oceanview (Cat. 6A-7A) and Interior (Cat. 1A-5A). These can vary a little depending on what ship you are on, but these are the categories. Since I don't know which ship you're booked on, I can't be more specific. Normally when people are talking about mini suites, they are referring to Cat. 11's. There are lots of pics out there of those..even in my pics. Just follow the link in my signature. Hope this helps.

Edited to say that from looking at your countdown clock, it appears you're on the Freedom transatlantic. I'm betting on a Cat. 11.

We are on the Carnival Freedom in a Category 8A balcony mini suite.

Who told you an 8A cabin was a mini suite? LOL... that category is a standard balcony cabin... NOT a suite.

And here is a picture:

Our Carnival rep. told us there are a few mini suites in that category on that deck. I just wanted to see if I could find a photo of a Carnival mini suite to compare to the regular balcony. We've had a balcony room before.

A balcony room is what you have this time too; nothing different!

What is the cabin number? There are no 8A suites... perhaps you have the category wrong?

Here is the deckplan with the 8A's... http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=FD

And, what's more, the 8A's on this class of ship are quite often over the disco, lounges or casino, so you need to check and see what your room is on top of, so to speak. We need to have quiet at night, so we upgraded to a 8B so we would have cabins below and above us.

There is no such thing as a mini suite on Carnival. The category 8's (A through E) are all just regular balcony cabins. The 11's are suites and 12's are penthouse suites. I've heard the 9A's being called mini suites by some but they are just deluxe balcony rooms. All of the balcony rooms have the same square footage and the difference with the 9A' is that the balconies are much larger. The 8A is the lowest category of balcony cabins.

Hope this helps and good luck with your TA on the Freedom. We just got off a back to back on the Freedom and loved it.

Ok, my mistake. It is a category 11 for the transatlantic this coming October. I was looking at the most recent one we booked out of San Juan next June.

Anyway, the rep did say it was a mini suite. Is the only difference sq. footage?

Whew! Glad to know I wasn't losing my mind there on what type cabin you have. The Cat. 11 will be larger in square footage than the regular balconies, and slightly smaller than the Cat. 12's. You will definitely enjoy it on your transatlantic voyage~:D
