Fuzzzy Posted December 31, 2005 #53 Share Posted December 31, 2005 I try to buy a model of each ship I sail on. They are normally in the gift shops and only cost $25.00 to $35.00 each. I am getting a nice collection of Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Celebrity ships.:D This sounded like a great idea. I was looking forward to purchasing one on the Sapphire Princess a couple of weeks ago sailing to Mexico. I was very disappointed. Not only that they did not have one, but they have nver heard of them. Actually, the entire Princess memorabilia area was very small and limited. I thought all the shops were this way and for a ship that holds 2,900 people, I was expecting more. Any ideas where I might find a small'ish size model of the Sapphire Princess? We Be Crusin' Posted January 22, 2006 #56 Share Posted January 22, 2006 I am also looking for a model of the Grandeur. We sailed out of Baltimore and their inventory of everything (t-shirts, sweats, jewelry, etc.) was very low. I asked the attendent and she said they had not received any new stock in over a month. So...if anyone knows where I can get a model of the Granduer please keep me in mind. You can email me @ cnash56@yahoo.com
Cam6959 Posted January 30, 2006 #57 Share Posted January 30, 2006 I purchased mine on ebay! Yippee! Had to pay a lot for it though. $60. Ouch. Husband said I don't care. Buy it. Just keep your eyes on ebay. Go to ebay at least twice a week and eventually I have seen all kinds of ships there. Good luck all. I am going on Celebrity's Summit in March will have to see what happens.:D

Like rsjc, I'm missing a couple of the early cruise ships that probably didn't even have models at that time. If any one needs a model of RCCL's Splendour of the Seas or Princess's Coral Princess, I have one of each that I would sell for the original purchase price. hi Raven , ineed both those ships . will purchase if you still have them pls do! \ email me at bg911@aol.com thank you let me know one way or the other
mikeythemars Posted February 28, 2006 #61 Share Posted February 28, 2006 Wow, this thead sure has staying power!!! I posted on it last year about how I'd just found a model kit of the first ship I ever sailed on, the S.S. France. Well, over a year later, it's finally done (the build was not easy), and I'm now the proud owner of the below two foot long memory of childhood: A few months ago, I also found (on eBay) a smaller scale model of the Italian Line Michelangelo. So my collection is slowly but surely growing!!
CRUSINGFAMILY Posted March 4, 2006 #62 Share Posted March 4, 2006 Mikeythemars: I do not have any models of the ships we've been on but believe this is something that perhaps we should start. Anyway, your posts about the SS France piqued my interest. I couldn't help you with a model but I do have a book about her. I am not interested in selling it but just wanted to share some info about her with you. We did not sail on her as the SS France but rather as the SS Norway. Our voyage on her is one of my most memorable cruises. What an elegant ship.
Cages2000 Posted March 10, 2006 #63 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Hello New to the site but making up for lost time! I also have collected models for all of the cruises that I have been on, great momento! Carnival did not sell one of the Holiday and I tracked one down on Ebay a few years ago. I'm sailing on the Valor in November and was wondering if anybody knows if they sell a model of the Valor on the ship. Thanks! Matt
cruiselover** Posted March 11, 2006 #64 Share Posted March 11, 2006 I was on the Carnival Valor in February 2005 and was able to buy one of the ship models in the gift shop. That made the seventh Carnival model for me! I will be on the Carnival Glory in May, so model number eight is coming home with me then.

Texas4Charley Posted March 29, 2006 #69 Share Posted March 29, 2006 I, too, am in need of a couple of models. I need Explorer of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas. I am going on the Celebrity Summit in June if anyone needs that model. Charley csprague@entouch.net
cruiseshipmodels Posted May 4, 2006 #70 Share Posted May 4, 2006 :) We have Imagination model in stock and will have model of Grand Princess soon. You can email sansim555@msn.com for photos and detales. All the models I have are about 8 to 10 inches. My mother-in-law bought one while on the Dawn Princess and it was very small. Around 5 to 6 inches. I hope Princess isn’t scaling them down because I’m going on the Grand in March.

ZoeyZoo Posted May 31, 2006 #72 Share Posted May 31, 2006 Don't know if it's showing up in my signature, but the first ship I ever sailed on (back as a child in the 1960s) was the S.S. France (which was sold when the French Line closed in 1979 and subsequently became the Norway of the Norwegian Line, before going out of service in 2003 after a boiler room explosion; the ship is now laid up in Bremerhaven, Germany, future fate unclear). I always wanted a model of the France, but couldn't find one until last year, when Glencoe models introduced a big, hugely detailed 1:450 scale plastic model kit of the ship (picture of kit attached). I've started working on it, and it's going to be a beautiful 22 inch long exhibit of wonderful memories when I'm done. Now if only some firm would produce a model of the Michelangelo.... There was an article in the paper about the France/Norway. She is being towed to India to be dismantled. There was a lot of buzz about it a few weeks ago (I think on the what happened to board) because environmentalists were protecting it's desmantling because of the asbestos it had. fitty Posted June 6, 2006 #73 Share Posted June 6, 2006 I am looking for a ship's model of the " Sea Venture" from the Flagship Lines which became the first Pacific Princess. It was also the " Love Boat" on the television series of the same name. Can anyone help me?
enchantress13 Posted June 12, 2006 #74 Share Posted June 12, 2006 This may sound like a stupid question but I have never cruised before and was wondering the ship models your refering to are they the kind you have to put together yourself or are the preassembled? I would love to collect them but don't wish to assemble them lol!!!:p
rsjc Posted June 13, 2006 #75 Share Posted June 13, 2006 No you do not have to put them together they are made out of resin.
