Our Last Day onboard the Star

Hi Everyone

 

Well great day yesterday - bit of excitment last night with an electrical fan overheating in the crew area and causing lots of smoke on Deck 2. Captain Tony Draper mobilised all crew to emergency stations as a precaution at approximately 11.30 pm. He is an absolutely credit to P&O as are his crew - the situation was dealt with well and he kept people informed at all times. Understandably quite a few people were scared and concerned but it was handled very well.

 

G'day G'day was as always brilliant. Champagne waterfall was a bit of a let down due to the event just prior with the smoke incident. Pub night was fantastic - a great night.

 

Our vows this morning were beautiful - Rolls and his cabin mate joined us as did a couple we had met on board. We got a buttonhole rose for Russell, boquet for me, a copy of the service, a renewal of vows certificate, champagne (bit hard to take at 10 am!!!) and wedding cake (which we didn't eat). We also get a framed portrait. The total cost was $250 and definitely worth it.

 

Not doing much today just relaxing and enjoying our last day aboard.

 

By the way spoke to Josh Drayboll (cruise director) and asked if he was going back to the Sun and he said that he has 2 more cruises on the Star and is then heading off to the Pacific Dawn as cruise director dut he did not know who is replacing him on the Sun as Adam Goyer will be coming back to the Star after his leave is finished. Captain Draper has a more cruises on the Star - he takes the Star to Auckland in November and then flies home to England.

 

Will get back on when I get home and give you more info - but another brilliant cruise on a great ship and a superb crew!!!
