Welcome Neighbor! Carnival docks in Roseau.... There is a small "flea market" type area just across the street, but this island is really more meant for an excursion. All of the fantastic beauty is outside of the dock area. At the Emerald Pool, they have an area that serves food and I heard it was pretty good- local stuff. Mr. Nice's Fruit Stand will fill you up on the freshest, best tasting stuff you'll probably ever try.

This is an unspoiled island, not really a "resort type" area.

Enjoy your time there- it's wonderful! :)

Is the emerald pool and Mr. Nice's Fruit Stand close the the dock area?

No, nothing is really close to the dock area besides the little shopping area for souveniers. This island is really meant for touring to see it's beauty.

It's in the jungle and you'll need to hire a Taxi if you don't want to take a tour of the island. Unfortunately, it's not walking distance.

Where does Carnival Destiny dock in Dominica?

does anyone have a street map of that dock area?

are there any good restaurants and shopping close to the dock area?

Try

http://www.skyviews.com/dominica/maproseau.html

for that street map you wanted.

and this....

http://www.avirtualdominica.com/images/dominica.gif

is a fair-decent map of the island.

no big detail, but enough to get your bearings by.
