If everyone stopped smoking it would be better for their health. I have already quit so I know it's better for mine.:D

Now for you kids that feel the need to tangle....cut the crap, my stress level is way to high because of the holidays and I need a cruise.

Smoke, poke and Happy Holiday's. Eat, Drink and be Merry for tomorrow you may die.

Sure, I know the difference between good champagne, great champagne and the stuff that barely passes, but I think Blondie007 summed up exactly what the welcome champagne is all about: the "Hurrah, we're here!" factor.

We can't afford Business air, let alone First Class, so our journey to the ship is less than restful, at best, and an incredible ordeal on the body, all too frequently. The best we can afford, and stay within budget, onboard, is an inside cabin on Oceania and an upper level outside cabin on Celebrity. We consider that we are incredibly lucky people to be able to afford to cruise on these great lines, even at these levels. For me, X's welcome champagne is the dividing line, the kickoff, to where all the slogging ends and the service begins.

Psychologically, it can be more important than it seems on the surface. I know it is to me: the service-oriented Celebration is beginning, and another "Trip of a Lifetime" is about to commence!

Champagne is symbolically linked to celebration, and often reserved for those times. So, as Ted (of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure") would say, "Be excellent to one another, and...party on, dudes!" (but only if you are dressed to code in the dining room - LOL)

Merry Sailing to All, and to All a Good Flight!

This is just my opinion, but since Celebrity prides itself on having good cuisine, I think it has an adverse affect on that image whenever they serve a beverage or food item that is sub par. I feel the same way about the tasteless hor d'oerves the butlers bring to suites.

I enjoy the welcome on Celebrity and complaining about the quality is a bit petty IMHO

Really? I think making it out to be a huge reason why X is preferable to other lines is a bit petty. We all have our priorities, but I'm always flabbergasted when people suggest that this is a reason why folks should choose Celebrity...

And I would feel that way if it was the finest, most expensive champagne in the world, too. It's not the quality that's the issue. It's the tininess of this one gesture in the overall scheme of things. I have no problem with people enjoying this little touch, but I don't think it needs to be blown out of proportion.

Who's blowing it out of proportion?.The welcome aboard bubly,Being escorted to the rooms, carrying trays in the buffet, sorbet by the pool, cold towels, afternoon pastries,ect,ect...are touches not found on RCI and little things that make me feel special and pampered.Who said the champagne was a HUUUUUGE reason?.Not me.That being said, complaining about the welcome aboard champagne is a bit silly and yes I would reccomend X to most of my friends,RCI to others.
