Sailgal05 Posted December 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2007 With the decline of the US dollar, would it be advisable to have some currency exchanged for Euros or the EC when visiting the Caribbean? I've heard that some merchants in St Martin don't want to mess with the dollar. Any information will be appreciated. Islands we'll be visiting are French, Dutch and British. Thanks. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2007 I would just stay with the US dollars. Each time you convert you end up losing some money by exchanging money so if you can avoid exchanging any money all the better. Keith
CPT Trips Posted December 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2007 We have never had any problem with using US dollars in the Caribbean. Of course, that was before the recent gas price surge which seems to be an unofficial devaluation of the dollar;).
