What are the Best Carnival ports and Why...?

 

I've been to a few... but some were 20 years ago, and I'm sure they have changed drastically.

Just my opinion, but my sister and I love Cozumel, St, Thomas, and St. Maarten. There are lots to do in each one of these ports and they are beautiful. :D

Cozumel has drastically changed in the last 10 years, it gets better and better. IMO

I love cozumel. it is one of my favorite ports.. I love the snorkeling.. I love the feel I get when I'm there.. I love the beaches.. The people are friendly and I feel "safe' there. I am going there for my 3rd time in 3 years at the end of the month.. I hope to go back every year - 2 years..

Absolutely- DOMINICA!! :) It's not touristy, remains unspoiled, and is absolutely beautiful....The folks on this island are the friendliest, too....

As soon as things are rebuilt from Hurricane Dean, I would recommend Costa Maya. Out of all of our cruises this was our favorite port, by far. The fishing village there was beautiful and provided a nice relaxing day on the beach, buckets of beer, and $20 hour long massages right there on the beach!

 

If you plan to cruise before that, I agree with the PP and say Cozumel. We have gone there on almost every cruise and it's never a dull moment!

My favorite port is St. Martin. Love the French side, less conjested.

Purely subjective. We just head for the nicest beach. They're not hard to find in the Caribbean! :)

 

But I hate reading where people make opinions on ports based on just where the ship docks. Doesn't do the port justice.

 

Imagine rating Manhattan on where the ships dock.

We really liked Grand Turk because it is still relatively unspoiled. St. Maarten is another favorite. I'm a beach lover and really any island with a great beach is a favorite with me.

I've enjoyed myself at every port I've been to.....for different reasons. Except Nassau......they can stop going there as far as I'm concerned. But it does make for a great sea day!

 

My top two would be Dominica and Costa Maya.

Costa Maya is on the Glory's Schedule Dec 13, 2008 and later I wonder if it'll be open then :)

Grand Turk is really nice. Not much to do there but lay out on the beach and play in the sea.

 

It's cheap too! No cab needed to get to the beach and you can walk back onto the ship for lunch.

St. Maarten, French side. Although the port where the ship docks is one of the neatest and cleanest we have seen. No high pressure "go on my tour" folks either.

 

Also loved Costa maya. Hope it is just as great after being rebuilt.

Half Moon .... I would be happy if Carnival would just dock their overnight and have two days in paradise.

Dominica because it's not your normal cruise ship type stop.

Roatan, love the mixture of beaches and jungle.

Antiqua, #1 most beautiful beach (until all the ships tours arrive)

Tortola, best sealife and most deserted beaches.

 

I could go on but i was only supposed to name 1 in the first place.:D
