Door decor?

I'm going to be on X's Summit in Feb. and I printed the CC door sign. Wrote in the CC name and will also tape some baloons around it. Easy to find my stateroom and it looks cute.:) Go for it, decorate to your hearts content.

The doors are magnetic. Last cruise, someone on the roll call made logos for us and we attached them to the doors.

Hey, you know what's fun? Go around about midnight and switch door decorations before the late disco/drinking crowd goes "home".:D JUST KIDDING.

Happy Sails to you

So you were the one! OOOEEE!;)

Actually the doors are not magnetic but they do have metal inside so magnets will stick to them. You can buy sheets of "magnetic paper" at the office supply store or other place that sells those specialty computer papers to print a sign with your inkjet type printer - (I don't think they'll work with a laser printer). We usually do this and stick it to the front of our door. We also usually print some notes to our self, like a little calendar with daily itinerary notes, on this paper and stick it to the back of our door or on the bathroom door. On some ships the walls and/or the mirrors, are also metal backed so magnets will stick.

And...hope all is well Bob!

Well, sure, but I thought I'd try something different on vacation. ;-D

Thanks, everyone, for the help. I'm sure I can come up with something nice, or at least something interesting.

We have a lot of the magnetic paper at work that my boss said I could have and I always make door signs for our cc group. I haven't had a problem with anyone moving them around, but I haven't cruised with Bob yet!:D

I had a magnetic door once, could never get it opened, turns out that the door frame was metal.

Seriously, though, I have a question regarding door decorations and name signs. Are the cabin passengers names listed outdside the door? This is something that is done on Princess, which helped identify friends.

Good idea Bob!

No, passenger names are not listed outside the cabins. I don't think I would like that at all - after all I am on a cruise to get away from the adoring public (Just kidding). Seriously, I really think that the cruiseline putting the names outside your cabin door is an invasion of privacy and if that is still the practice on Princess, it is a definite mark in the negative column when choosing a cruiseline for us.

Okay Okay, there is a prize for the 100th person who points out that the door itself is not magnetic, but that it is metal and magnets will stick to it. Your doors are in trouble if we sail together:D .

Hi Larry and Sue:) . (who actually put their door decoration in the Martini bar). Miss you folks.

A1A, we had a heckuva time with the magnetic door-betcha Phyllis leaves her wired bras and metal curlers at home next time.

Terri, less than three months to go!

Happy Sails to you

We had a sparkly wreath for our holiday cruise. Half way through our 14 day cruise we found out the neighbors were all touching it for good luck because one had won in the casino. Didn't work for us though.

Just curious. Do those of you who decorate your door on a ship do this at a hotel as well?

NO.

But there are a lot of things we do on a cruise ship that we never do at a hotel. It is overall a more festive, social and party like experience then we've ever had at a hotel. For example, when going to a hotel for a vacation we've never conversed with people on the internet about our trip and planned on meeting them at the hotel nor planned day trips away from the hotel with them. We hardly ever have much socializing with other guests at restaurants and bars at hotels. And we've never, ever, even come close to inviting a bunch of fellow hotel guest over to our hotel room for a sail away or sunset party out on the balcony!

What Larry said plus, I have never stayed in a hotel room for 10-12 nights, can't even off hand remember staying in the same hotel for a week. The ship cabin becomes more like a home away from home rather than a place to drop your bags for the night and sleep.

I also can't remember ever unpacking more than just my hanging clothes and toiletries in a hotel, we live out of our suitcases. Maybe that's part of the difference....once you unpack those bags and put them away you start to want to "mark" that cabin and make it your own. :D

Ok, after following this forum for some time, I have to ask : What does the D stand for in DH and DW?
