You got the money, the Cabbie will do whatever you want! I forget the name of the main road that leads to the Port turn-in, but there is a major liquor store in a shopping center near the Port road. Lots of the ships company walk over to these stores.

Mind didn't mind stopping, but damn he must have stopped us at the most expensive place on the way from the airport to the pier. (the liquor store was almost directly across the street from an Embassy Suites).

In actuality, the champagne/wine wasn't expensive, but the case of bottled water was ridiculous.

Try Total Wine and More on the way to the cruise terminal if you're looking for good deals on wine and spirits. You can also order on-line and pick it up on the way to the ship. They are pretty popular here on Cruise Critic (try a search) for people making a pickup on the way to the cruise terminal.

Their web site is (it also has driving directions):

Do think the cab drivers would mind stopping at a liquor store en route to the cruise terminal in Ft Laudale? Thanks

Don't know why not..... he / she will just keep the meter running while you run in to make your purchases. :D Be sure to factor the side trip and stop into the calculation of your savings. ;)

Steve, you didn't mention if you were going to FTL the night before.

If so, usually the shuttle drivers will take you to a nearby grocery or liquor store if they are not too busy. Ours did, and we gave him a nice tip. We knew exactly what we wanted, headed for the beer and wine aisle and were out within 20 minuted.:)

If you are arriving the same day, as others have pointed out, he/she will stop as long as the meter is running, the driver is happy.:D
