Juneau- Whale Watch or Zipline?

If your budget allows, why not do both...We are going on the Carnival Spirit and have a very long port time in Juneau. We have already booked Harv and Marv for Whale Watching and just today at lunch we talked a little about doing a zip-line adventure either in Ketchikan or Juneau.

Thoughts Please?

Zip Lines are fun and we will probably do them again but not at the expense of even a less than average good day of whale watching in Juneau. Save the zip for the Caribbean (but not at the expense of a less than average good dive there either), really.

We did both on our day in Juneau. We booked with Orca to go out with Capt Larry on their first excursion of the day. After whale watching, we had Orca drop us off at Mendenhall Glacier where we had a very relaxed 2 hours. Then went back to the cruise dock via the shuttle and did the canopy zip line excursion booked through the cruise line. We had a great day and had plenty of time for everything

Does anyone know how to determine when the excursions leave? I realize that due to variables an exact schedule is virtually impossible but I am trying to determine how we can squeeze in the things we want to do at the 3 ports we are going to in July.

We are going to be at each port for at least 8 hours but some of the arrivals are very early in the morning.

In the past I was only able to get the departure times when on board the ship. In Alaska, the excursions we want are probably booked up right about now.
